I believe adding 'Hybrid Running' will be great for users that incorporate obstacles and/or strength training with their running. From a data perspective, this will also allow users to separate their running performance data similar to what they do with running and trail running.
For example, I completed in a Spartan race and Deka Fit (5k) race over the last few months. I've also completed 2 5ks pavement races. Even though all of those races are the same distance, the obstacle and functional fitness races are distinctively different and should be recorded as such. This feature would also work for indoor and bootcamp style workouts that utilizes run/strength training plan (ie 5 rounds of 400m run, 25 situps, 25 burpees, 25 lunges).
There are quite a bit of us that do hybrid racing/running such as Spartans, DEKAs, etc.
