When an activity is uploaded the map doesn’t differ between paved and unpaved surfaces. I don’t get the dotted line for example for gravel rides in the forest. Any idea of how to reactivate this feature?

Hello Jane: Web Strava -> Using my Mac computer I have tried using the "gravel ride" descriptor you mention above (instead of "ride") for describing a ride and the Strava map still does not show the gravel roads vs. the paved roads. I have also tried changing the map type to dirt and that doesn't help to differentiate the paved roads from the gravel roads on my Strava map either.
Strava app -> If I designate the map type as "dirt" when I record a ride on my iPhone it does show both gravel and paved parts of the ride (gravel is dashed lines, paved road lines without dashes). Somehow Strava seems to handle the rides differently between iPhone and Mac computer.
Do you have any idea why this is happening?

@DT2 In the web version the customized map is only displayed in the dashboard, but not in the activity view.
