Apple Multisport activities showing up as 1 activity

I completed a Bike and Run multisport activity using the apple fitness app. After uploading to Strava it is shown as one continuous activity. I know other smart watches upload as separate activities and would be nice if it was the same with apple fitness as you do not see any segments or average speed data for the individual sports and the transition is not accounted for either .

Hello @Swheeler

Thanks for your post.  We currently don't have a multi-sport activity type on Strava.  The best workaround would be to use the Strava activity split tool to split the activity, and then edit to the correct activity type(s) so you see correct average speed/pace and segments.

Also - we have an existing feature suggestion on this topic over on our Ideas Board.  You can view it here, and we would welcome your vote (kudos) and any comments you might like to add.  Thanks so much for your contribution.

Hi @Jane , the Suggestion has many kudos, there are countless Reddit threads complaining about Strava not implementing this. At my local tri-club, people have been moaning for years. All big watch companies provide enough data, it’s not that big of a task but Strava seems to ignore this issue. Please listen to your customers, we don’t need chats or AI, we just want to correctly log our activities.

Hello Jane,

I faced the same issue and tried to split the activity. It's however not possible (split is not available) even if I change the activity type to "run" or "ride". I guess this is because Strava doesn't get the GPS data from Apple. Any clue on how to solve that ?

Thanks !

Having the same problem - Wow. Just wow.

Since this seems to be a problem for more people, I opened a new thread on this specific problem https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/devices-and-connections/no-gps-and-speed-data-in-multisport-worko...

- feel free to apmlify since at least for me that’s a dealbreaker if not fixed asap

Found the fix for me. I went to TrainingPeaks, downloaded the FIT file and uploaded it into Strava and it had everything perfectly broken down including the transitions.

Connected TrainingPeaks to Health and see the my triathlon in TP nicely split. Exported fit files of the seperate workouts but Strava says it are empty fit files.

Have the same problem, the activity doesn’t contain any speed or gps data at all. This is very weird since my last triathlons did at least contain all this (but showed only as one continuous activity as described by the OP). It seems Strava actually managed to make the app WORSE for multisport sometime in the last months.

It's not a perfect solution but you can export the data from Apple's Health App (instructions here: https://dividendwealth.co.uk/apple-watch-view-your-travel-itineraries-and-save-them-in-gpx/)

This gives you a GPX file which you can upload to Strava manually and then split into separate activities.
