The new hub seems to prefer the number of likes for measuring who is helpful. But anything about likes is completely underdeveloped, you can’t see for others and yourself what the likes were for and notifications for likes you get don’t exist.

There seems to be a glitch with the last-response icon - the intended design seems to be showing the user icon of the last person who posted a reply on a thread (and it worked like that initially if I recall it correctly), now the thread author’s user icon is replicated at all times.

Screenshot to illustrate - @Jan_Mantau’s icon should be next to the “2 days ago”:

Thanks for flagging @Jana_S - we have raised the bug internally! I will circle back here once we have more updates!

@Jana_S I wanted to circle back here and let you know that issue with notifications in web and mobile UI not working and the issue with last posted icon have now been resolved. Thanks for your patience!

Some minutes like a hundred ideas from different authors were published at once. This is maybe due to some releasing mechanism but it will lead to most of these ideas never being read at all. Almost nobody will sit here hours and hours and comb through all the “new” ideas. Please consider to release ideas more in time to their creation so every idea gets a fair chance.

@Lola - For some reason, just above every previous idea or post was reposted with none of the comments or votes.  I saw one of my own near the top and I know it received a bunch of votes and feedback, but it is showing none of that.  Something went wrong in your system.

@Jan_Mantau - I appears that it reposted a bunch (not sure if all?) of old posts, but without any of the comments or votes that they had.  It reposted them as if they were all new ideas.  I know at least one of mine was near the top of the list when I scrolled through.

Hello @Jan_Mantau and @anchskier - this is part of the migration process and we are aware of it. I can confirm that these are old ideas and they are soon going to have their votes and replies migrated over accordingly. Thank you for your patience!

Hi @Lola  - the notifications started working indeed, thanks - but for last 2-3 days, they're a bit wonky again. The indicator does show a number of new notifications, but when you click it to expand the list of updates, only a few show up (I’m not sure whether there's a pattern, it seems to be random). Could you bug the team with this again please? 😀

This is a little thing, but look:  Can you update your dictionary for spell checking?  Whenever I enter text into this forum, I get these words flagged as errors:  Garmin, Wahoo, and leaderboard (which is a real word in golf for well over a hundred years.)  And the word Strava is flagged as a typo.  I just shake my head in wonderment at that one!  Thankx…

Also, and I don't mean to be picky, but can you bring back "preview"?  In the old forums you could use emojis, links and photos then click preview to see exactly how others would view your post.  I used that a lot and it seems to be missing here.  Thanks again...

@JBW-Florida Spell checking is done by the browser, not by the website.

@Jana_S - The notifications feature is not working properly.  Just about every time I come to the page, I see one or more notifications at the top of the page by the little bell icon.  When I click on that, I can see old notifications, but nothing new.  This last time, the last “new” notification was showing from 20 hours ago, yet I had been to the page and cleared out all recent notifications within the last hour or two.  It seems to be pretty random.  There are times when I know there is something new (due to an e-mail I saw come in), but yet that won’t show up as a new notification (or any notification for that matter).  Instead, I will see a couple from 17 hours ago that are totally unrelated.

You meant this rather for @Lola  / mod team I believe? 🙂 I’m a mere user. (But I’m too still experiencing the same wonky behavior of the notifications, exactly as you described!)

Haha, yes, sorry.  I’ll tag her here ( @Lola ) so she sees it.

@anchskier How did you clear out the notifications? I have searched for that function but didn’t found anything. There are so many notifications with a blue ball next to it where I have read the posts already and want to get rid of these blue balls (or the notifications itself) without reading anything again.

@Jan_Mantau - I only found a way to clear them out one-by-one, so actually haven’t gone through the entire list (no idea how long it really is).  When you click on the little bell icon for the notifications and the list pulls down, as you highlight one you should see the blue dot on the right.  If you mouse over that spot, you should see an option to “mark as read”.  You can also undo that if you clicked on it by mistake.

@anchskier Thanks, that was simple, if you know the trick :-) Typical GUI fail when there are buttons that are not recognizable as buttons.

Just chiming in to see whether there's anything new with the notifications… (which are still very random, and not working correctly...) though now I’m not sure whether @Lola actually got a notification when we tagged her 🙈

I got a notification that @Jane  had responded to a idea that I had given a vote to, not made a comment on... just a vote.  I think that goes a bridge too far.  I don’t want to be flooded with notes about ideas I voted on.   But, I think we’re making progress!

@Lola - I am still getting random notifications on the main page the same as Jana_S.  Just this time, there were supposedly two notifications, but when I checked, the top two in the list were from 1 and 2 days ago respectively.  I’ve been to this page a couple times already today and checked notifications.

Hi everyone,

Appreciate the feedback on the notifications! There currently aren’t any updates to share regarding this, but we have shared your feedback re: ability to clear notifications as well as timeliness and logic around the notifications to the team that owns it. Once any updates are available, we’ll be sure to share them here. We appreciate your patience!

Meanwhile the notifications got worse (or were always that way, I can’t remember): If you open them in a new browser tab it just creates a duplicate of the current tab instead of the mentioned post or at least the topic. And has someone mentioned yet that the sorting of the notifications is useless with new notfications between weeks old notifications at the bottom of the notification list? Example:

@Jan_Mantau - Hey @Marya, I think Jan may have hit on a key thing here.  It may not be necessarily that the notification function isn’t working, it may just be not sorting them correctly.  I just went to my list and kept scrolling down, marking all of the unread ones to “read”.  What I found was a number of notifications from the last day or two, ones I would have expected to see, listed WAY down the list (like pages down), well below ones from weeks ago.  I wonder if when I am seeing an indicator of a new notification or two that I actually do have those, but they are just not sorted chornologically, so when I click on the little bell icon, I just don’t see them.  I keep seeing the same old ones at the top of the list most of the time.  Can you check with your programmers to see if maybe there is a setting to sort the notifications by date rather than subject or however it is currently sorted?

Just to follow up on this.  I went through and marked all of my old notifications as “read” a couple days ago.  Today, when I logged in, I had a note of 1 new notification.  When I looked at the list after clicking on the little bell icon, I did not see anything at the top of the list, but when I scrolled down a few pages, I finally did find that one new unread one from 22 hours ago.  So, it looks like the notifications may correct about how many new ones you have, they are just not sorted chronologically, so the new ones are not necessarily showing up at the top of the list.  If they can get the system to sort them properly, it may resolve this issue, or at least the part that I am seeing with it.

Hi @anchskier and @Jan_Mantau, appreciate the additional context here regarding the notification order! We’ll share this with the appropriate parties.

Please note that the Hub is hosted on a platform provided by one of our partner vendors, which means some updates or changes to the Hub space may require collaboration with their team. They’ve been receptive to feedback, and we're excited for our ongoing collaboration with them! We’ll be sure to pass along your feedback for consideration. While we can’t guarantee immediate changes, we’re optimistic about the improvements we can achieve together with them. In the meantime, we’ll continue to share these notes as they continue to improve this feature.

As mentioned, we’ll be sharing any updates regarding this as we get them. Thanks!
