Hi,

I'm looking for a way to have these statistics included with my runs on strava.

I use strava to record my running and view statistics which is great.

First I started using the strava Apple Watch app but it didn't include these extra statistics. I know for example Garmin watches can sync these data to strava running activities, but don't want to buy a new watch and wondered if this is also possible with my Apple Watch. I found out that the workout app on iOS 16.1 and Apple Watch 9.1 includes this data, but not all data is synced to strava .

Is this already on the roadmap or hopefully a good idea to add :)?

Kind regards

Martijn

UPDATE FROM STRAVA (March 18, 2024)

Hello and thank you to everyone who has added their comments and feedback to this topic.

First, we want to say that we appreciate you all reaching out on this matter and sharing your thoughts. We absolutely understand the value of having as much of your activity data on Strava as possible, and how many of our athletes use an Apple Watch to record that data. We do want to let you know that we are committed to improving both the Strava Watch app experience and the integration we have with the Apple Workout app (Healthkit).

Our team is pushing forward to streamline and improve the user experience with the Strava watch app, making recording and syncing activities easier for athletes. We are also investigating how best to bring over more data from Healthkit to Strava, particularly with the releases of watchOS 9 and watchOS 10.

We will continue to work towards these goals and monitor this thread. Please be on the lookout for improvements to the Apple Watch experience in the coming year.

There’s no development required, Strava can and will read the power metrics that are recorded by Apple already, hence the workaround of using HealthFit to import the data to Strava, it’s simply a fact they refuse to enable it!

This is embarassing for Strava. This should be a foundational feature for those with apple watch. When I go cycling I get completely different Power estimate from Strava versus the data coming from my bicycle. Please, implement this quick!!!!!

They had to prioritize super important features like dark mode so I'm totally sympathetic to their backlog.

This isn't the only obvious, easy feature that I have been waiting on for years. Another is for them to implement mile/km markers on the map so that you can easily see where you hit various distances. If you agree, please vote for it here:

15% less power Strava vs Apple Watch sync to powermeter, 134/157.
btw, I sync my Apple Watch to Strava , it’s the data source.  🤷‍♂️

come on Strava .. what’s your hold up here

🤷‍♂️

Because Strava isn’t using the power data, it’s estimating power based on your weight (in Strava profile) and speed

Only when you import the activity directly from Apple. If you use HealthFit to import the same activity then Strava will display the exact power readings from the meter

I use my Apple Watch for my rides which works with my garmin power meter pedals and reflects status on my iPhone. I like the UX and will not use the strava iPhone nor watch apps to record workouts because Apple has an advantage over 3rd parties when it comes to battery utilization for workouts. Also, I want the flexibility for data to always persist in HealthKit and other apps like strava to leverage it as the source of truth.

Please simply ingest power meter data from HealthKit during imports… don’t over complicate and force the use of the strava app or anything like that.

Thank you!

I would really want cadence and power please. Kinda strange that this isn’t supported. It feels almost like Strava is blocking it rather than supporting it. Why is it not supported?

Would be great to get this data from the Apple watch in Strava instead of the estimates. Kind of defeats the purpose of having linked up the Assioma Duos to the watch. When I import from Garmin, the power meter data comes through. Not sure why this discrepancy.

Under consideration for 2 and a half years? This is a must! I just started using Strava, paid for premium and when started cycling realized Strava can’t use the power and cadence data from the most popular watch in the world - Apple Watch! To add insult to injury, Strava keeps posting my “estimated” wattage which is wildly off my real power for the workout.

Where’s the vote? Like button on the original idea post? Or is there a separate vote?

@Jane This is beyond ridiculous.

This isn’t an “idea”, the issue is a BUG. A user would expect power, as the most fundamental cycling data point, to be imported from their device.

Changing the status of this and replying to all the frustrated users has taken more time than the actual change would.

If it takes 2.5 years (longer actually because Strava definitely had access to the Apple Watch developer information well prior to release) Strava to even consider such a critical issue that is so simple to fix, what are you doing??

Oh, Dark mode.

Next there’ll be a special code you can type in the description to have a unicorn running on your activity map.

Just get it fixed!
