It's often that a person might start their location in a new location after pausing their ride. They might be catching a train or bus or ferry. Noone wants to create a new ride for where they get off these vehicles. My suggestion is to have Strava automatically change lines that connect points that stop and start a certain amount (1km?) Away from each other as a dotted line to differentiate between transitioning points and actual riding.

I have a suggest to add a feature. When you follow a gpx, screen is fading after several seconds. You have to tuch the screen to have more light for a while, and fading several seconds later. Could it be possible to auto light the screen several meters before a way changing and auto fade after seconds. Like that, not necessary to tuch the screen, free hands for handlebar.

Recently I did a multi-day hike through some areas in the alps with very very poor network reception so that I was unable to upload my activities in the form that I wanted them to be (nice description & couple of images). After ending my activity after each hike at the end of each day, Strava tried to upload my activity to publish it to my feed. In areas with poor network coverage this process may not work and causes my phone to retry the upload over and over again which causes an increased consumption of battery (which is not good if you are in remote areas). Feature request: When ending an activity provide the possibility "Store as draft" which stores the activity locally on the mobile phone without triggering an upload. The activity is then saved and can be edited and published at a later point in time when network reception is better and the activities are ready to be shared.

There is a problem with Garmin treadmill uploads to Strava whereby at the end of a run, you calibrate the distance based on the actual treadmill distance and the watch then uploads the recalibrated distance to Garmin Connect. When synced with Strava however, Strava shows the uncalibrated distance, which can be a long way off. This seems to have been a problem for a long time, going by the age of the thread on the Garmin forum (5 years to be precise). It would be great if the calibrated distances appeared on Strava.

Pretty straightforward request: please allow us to set a default Map Type (eg. Surface Type) instead of Standard. I train and explore in mostly rugged terrain, and I would like to convey that with a simple set-it-and-forget-it setting.

I suggest separating the Resume and Finish buttons on the app screen when in Pause mode. Often, one will restart riding and notice that the app is still paused. Trying to press the Resume button while in motion often results in the Finish button being pressed instead. This mistake truncates ride lengths and necessitates a new ride start on the fly, with the inherent dangers of distracted riding. Moving the Resume and Finish buttons to opposite corners of the screen would help prevent this frustration.

Please add turn by turn audio directions so we don’t have to always be looking at our phone while on an activity. I’d personally use this for cycling but I imagine it’s useful for many other activities as well. Pros If you need to save battery you could turn your phone screen off and navigate purely by the audio directions. (For activities where you may be watching the app mid-activity, like cycling) Saves you from the disruption of pulling out your phone for directions mid-activity. Stay in your flow! Not having to look at your phone in a busy area is safer, especially on a bike. Completes Strava as a navigation app, meaning less need for other devices, and people are more likely to subscribe for Strava Premium.
