Currently only rides that last less than 24 hours count toward the Gran Fondo Challenge. There are several events in Ultra Endurance cycling that can last longer than 24 hours - for example the Unbound Gravel XL (350 mi / 36-hour time limit) and the Gravel Worlds Long Voyage (300 mi / 30 hr. limit). I was very disappointed when my finish at Gravel Worlds last year did not count towards the Gran Fondo Challenge. Can the 24-hour limit be removed? ... View more

I think it would be great to have a virtual Scavenger Hunt Challenge in Strava because this will be fun and motivate people to get outdoors. I think this is important because: Scanvenger Hunt will combine physical and digital worlds into an adventure It can have various virtual items pop-up in Strava's digital map around the world. Socks, shoes, bikes, shorts, singlets, hats, helmets, shades, basketball, soccer ball, snowboards, medallions etc.  The items only show up on the map once the athlete starts their activity, so they can't drive to that location before starting.  The items are only available to the first five athletes who reach it Athletes can use the Strava map like a Pokedex and use routes to find the secret items.  Every day the location of the items are reset around the world. The most difficult locations (i.e. top of mountains) will have more valuable prizes.  Brands can sponsor their own virtual items that spawn in Strava World just like challenges and announce it on social media. Hi Strava Team,   I think it will be great to build a New Challenge Series - Strava Grand Prix for running, cycling, swimming, and triathlons.  This is important because:  Athletes like challenges that are connected to each other and lead to bigger challenges Strava can partner with racing organizations to build the Strava Grand Prix and earn challenge badges for each event. The Grand Prix can be a paid and unpaid series depending on if the athlete wants a medal + swag bag.  Completing the Grand Prix gets you access to a special event at the end of the year and a Strava medal + swag bag For example, Abbott World Marathon Majors has six races for the six-star medal. Nearly all monthly and annual challenges are distance-based. I ride a lot of MTB and live surrounded by big hills. I'm never going to ride 10000 km in 2024, for example, so why would I enter the challenge? How about challenges based on time spent riding? Currently the calculation is just the average of a whole activity, but it should be calculated on kilometer basis. Here's an example, the best time is: 6:11/km it results 30 min, 55 seconds But in the single activity the best sum of kilometers is: 29min 11s Which would result 5:50/km. We would love to have this calculation in place, because some of the people are just running longer activities or doing intervall with warmup and cooldowns and for them this would be more fair.     ... Strava athletes are safer with fewer cars on the road and many cities have underused robust public transport systems. As Strava is a strong social media tool for many people, it could be used to encourage public transportation in a non-shaming way. You could post your bus rides (including walk to bus, bus ride, walk from bus to destination) and receive awards for most efficient ride, most dedicated/persistent bus rider, etc. If the app partnered with a city's bus system it could also suggest better routes or paths to the bus station. ... I think Strava would have a great partnership opportunity with Dunkin' Donuts.  What is the challenge? The challenge takes place in June. National Donut Day is on the first friday in June. This year it will be on June 2nd, 2023. Anyone who completes the dunkin donuts challenge can get a free coffee or donut from Dunkin Donuts by showing they completed the challenge. How does it work?  The challenge will allow anyone to claim a coffee box or a dozen donuts to share with friends that week by completing 12 miles. One mile for every donut or cup of coffee. The person who completes this challenge will be a hero in their office. They have to complete it in the first week. Why is it important? Dunkin's tagline is "America Runs on Dunkin".  They can run a new campaign to the World Runs with Dunkin' and Strava in June. I think it will be cool if Strava adds a Relay Race Challenge series to get more sprinters on the platform.  What is it? For running, the relay race challenge is either 4 x 100m or 4 x 400m for running at a track.  For swimming, the three standard relays are the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and 4 × 100 m medley relay. Why is it important?  Strava is primarily focused on the solo athlete and longer distances - 1 mile and up in running. Having a 100m/400m x 4 relay race challenge will inspire people to work together as a team and test out their sprinting ability. The relay race is multi-player game that creates a better team dynamic among running club members. The best team wins.  How does it work? individuals have to sign up for the challenge and partner up with a team of 4 friends. Then each friend needs to complete a section of the relay in order and select relay race on their type of activity in order for it to count towards the relay race challenge. They should try to do it together on the same track for the most fun, but they can also do a virtual relay race around the world with everyone running 100m or 400m anywhere they can find. I think it would be great if Strava partners with the LT. Michael P. Murphy Scholarship Foundation to implement the Murph Challenge on Memorial Day, May 29, 2023. What is it? The Murph Challenge is a physical and mental challenge (combining running, push-ups, squats, pull-ups) to honor Lt. Michael P. Murphy of the US Navy Seals. It is the official annual fundraiser of the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation.  Why is it important? 2023 is the 10-year anniversary of the Murph Challenge. The event is held annually on Memorial Day, and people from all over the world come together to honor Lieutenant Murphy and all those who have given their lives in service to the United States. It honors  How does it work?  Athletes need to do a time trial and complete 3 separate activities wearing a 20lb weight vest: 1. Running: One-mile run 2. Strength: 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats 3. Running: One-mile run It is a test of endurance and strength. It is difficult physically and mentally. I think it will be great if Strava adds Time Trial Challenges. What is it? The time trial challenges are a set of challenges based on time and not distance covered. The athlete has to cover as many miles as possible (AMMAP) in 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, etc. depending on their sport.  Why add time trials? This challenge literally puts the athlete under the clock to test their lactate threshold (times may need to be adjusted based on sport).  How does it work?  Time trials can be an activity (run, ride, swim, row, walk, etc.?) that the athlete marks as a race. Another option is to allow the athlete to start a time trial from the challenge screen directly and see the clock counting down. Time trials allow athletes to select which activity they want to do a time trial for in that month. Then the athletes can try to beat their own time trial PRs month over month.      ... View more

I think it will be great if Strava adds Multiplayer Team Challenges. Here is why it's important: Current Functionality: Challenges are currently single-player leaderboards. It is missing multiplayer challenges.  Proposed Functionality: Strava Squads can form with 2 to 4 players to win badges. Challenges that are multiplayer mode are even more fun and engaging. Teammates must work together in order to be able to cover the distance of the group challenge. For example, group monthly running challenges can be 300km, 600km, etc. Strava Squads can challenge each other in Versus Mode (Red team vs. Blue team vs. Green team vs. Yellow Team) to see which squad covers the most miles in a month, climbs the highest, or takes the least amount of time to cover a set distance.  It takes a team to raise an athlete. ... I think Strava should partner with MGM/WB on a Creed III Challenge.  This is important because: Athletes need motivation to keep moving forward Creed III is the movie that inspires more people to train The challenge can be logging in a boxing/running, strength or jump rope activity  Endurance athletes and martial artists would love this challenge One challenge winner gets to watch the movie in IMAX for free with friends and family   ... I think it would be great to add a live virtual fitness class and leaderboard to Strava. This is important because: Athletes can connect with a Strava instructor leading a class The live nature of the class will be like Peloton but for different sports (running, cycling, rowing, weightlifting, swimming in future) Everyone sees the leaderboard live like an Orange Theory where it shows HR and ranking based on how hard the individual is working. Some classes can be distance based instead of HR based.  Athletes can connect with each other inside and outside of virtual class When would I use this? I would be more likely to get on my bike trainer if I knew I could connect with athletes on Strava that I know. I would also use it for group weightlifting classes. Hi Strava Team,  I think it will be great to add a Strava Writing Club along with an annual contest for writers to submit their poetry or writing.  This is important because:  I think a lot of writers are athletes and a lot of athletes are writers in hiding (especially runners!) Strava is not only my workout journal, but also my writing journal It would be cool to promote more writing on the platform by creating a club and running an annual contest for athletes to submit their writing This can start as a club for writers then can be a Year in Sport Writing/Poetry Contest Winners of the contest get published in Strava Journal and free subscription for one year  An example of when I would use this feature is today. Hi Strava Team, I think Strava Star Rewards will be a great addition to Strava. This is important because: Strava Star Rewards are basically star points for completing challenges Initially, the points can be used to redeem a free subscription for 3 months, 6 months or 1 year (similar to NYRR challenges) In the future, the points can be used to buy Strava swag, discounts for gear, fuel, and shoes from different brands, or subscriptions to other fitness services Brands benefit and users benefit. Instead of only having free subscriptions available through NYRR challenges, expand it to other challenges, so users are motivated to complete more brand challenges and gain stars.  An example of when I would want this feature is every time I complete a challenge, I collect 1 star. 100 stars in one year = 3 months. 200 stars in one year = 6 months.  300 stars in one year (if possible) = 12 months. If I want to create Challenge where you need to run some distance not together but separate you can't do that. So I suggest to add new type of Challenge where I choose distance and time and add runners. After that each of us should run that distance. And we could see progress of each of us. Whether on purpose or by accident, many times there are activities on the big leader boards that are physically impossible.  An example would be running faster than 3 minutes per mile. Or recording a bicycle ride while riding in a car.  Sometimes this is accidental, because a person forgot to turn off the recording and then drove in their car. Other times, it's on purpose when a cheater tries to game the system.  This needs to be done for segments, as well as for overall activities. There might be an activity with a normal overall speed, but one or more segments were recorded at an impossible speed. Or there might be an activity with no segments, but it shows up on the leader boards as an impossibly fast activity.  There are users who periodically report these super-fast activities, but this takes up a lot of time for users. And also for the support staff who review the reported activities.  This could be automated. If a user uploads an activity that is physically impossible, such as being a lot faster than world record speed for that sport, the app would say something like: "Something is wrong with this activity. It will not be counted for segments or other leader boards." This would really improve the user experience when looking at leader boards and segments, and reduce user frustration when cheaters attempt to win all the leader boards.  ... View more
