Calculating the "Age Graded Percentage" for a run is a well-known way of standardising the time taken to complete a run according to the age and gender of the runner involved. Knowing that my age graded percentage for a 5k run is higher than somebody else's necessarily and by definition means that I performed better than they did over that distance. If I only knew that my time for the 5k was faster, I would not be able to fairly reach the same conclusion without first considering whether I was younger or older than the other runner or whether I was the same or different gender. Calculating an age graded percentage is easy (lots of websites allow you to do it) and it could be done for every run on Strava. I would love to see a "Best Efforts" page that is based on this percentage because it would allow me to compare my best efforts with those of another athlete much more fairly. At the moment, my best effort according to Strava might not really be my "best" effort at all. For example, my second best 5k time of 20:05 might constitute a much better effort than my personal best time of 19:50 if, for example, I achieved the 20:05 time when I was in my fifties but the 19:50 time in my teens. Based on total km/miles, ascent, activities, kom/qom, local legend, total effort. I mean just one number to immediately identify an athlete level. It has to be not related to the kind of sport (each sport will give different points contributing to the final result). This number could appear on the upper part of the photo.  ... View more

Currently, the lower age groups are 19 and below, however, most 19-year-olds can bike at a very high level, and the difference between a 15-year-old and a 19-year-old is higher than a 25-year-old and a 35-year-old.  This would also credit upcoming talents in the U17 and U15 groups.  Later a POM (Prince or Princesse of the Mountain) could also make sense for each age group. Hi, I love segments, and leaderboards. And it's very great that top 10s were added. However the gamification has so much more potential. An idea for segment KOM/QOM territories. There could be highlights on the map showing who holds the most KOMs/QOMs in a specified area. Similar to (strategy) videogames, when you have control over a certain area.     ... View more

The best efforts feature is great, and glad to see it's come to mobile. However, for the shorter distances particularly, many of my best efforts are predictably downhill segments. If you run a lot of hills, best efforts eventually just becomes best downhill effort list. I would like to know which efforts were not downhill runs. Maybe downhill efforts get clearly marked with a tag. Or maybe the average incline is shown next to the best effort time. Or maybe there's a separate tab for "not downhill" or "mostly flat" efforts. I know I could just remove the downhill efforts; maybe that's what is expected. But it is currently not clear which segments the best effort came from on an activity, so I have to guess which ones are downhill (and how steep) anyway. If the average incline was shown, I could selectively remove them. I personally don't want to remove the downhill efforts anyway though, I just want to know what my best times were on flat or uphill terrain. ... View more

PR medals and KOM cups reward performance, they are fantastic, they encourage us to improve, to repeat the performance on the same segment until we reach our goal. However, there is no prize, no medal, no reward for exploration. GIVE US GREEN MEDALS FOR EXPLORATION! there are so many cyclists who love to explore, who never repeat a segment, who seek a new experience every outing, there is a lot of this in every category: gravel, mtb, touring, road, etc. Also rewarding this style, this way of doing cycling will motivate many cyclists, will push PR enthusiasts to look for new segments and will reward those who explore a new corner of the world every day! ... On water rowing can be done in different boats that has different speed potential. Same athlete can be training one week in a quad(4x) another week in a single scull. At the moment there is no feature to report the boat type  in an activity and achievements(PRs) are calculated without taking this information into account. Over time it becomes rarely possible to achieve a personal best in a single-scull against a 4x and achievement feature does not give much insight/motivation in such a case  It would be nice to have a feature that can distinguish personal bests per boat type. ... You should be able to add notes to a strava activity as you are recording. Example: when something funny happened and you want to write a note so you remember it at the end of your ride. ... View more

It would be great if Strava could automatically detect and show negative / positive split for activities (i.e. whether the 2nd half was faster or slower than the 1st). It would be especially interesting for races - achieving a negative split in races is kind of a "holy grail" for many athletes. I would like to suggest an enhancement to the way monthly achievements are displayed. Currently, the Trophies view appears cluttered, making it difficult to get a clear impression of someone's accomplishments due to the many similar badges. I propose an aggregated view that summarizes monthly achievements. For example: "Monthly 100K Running Challenge completed 19 times" "Monthly Cycling Challenge completed 12 times" This would provide a clearer, more organized way to showcase and appreciate users' efforts over time. ... hello, at the moment it is not possible to share on IG stories Strava records/crowns/personal best . The only sharing activity is on IG dm which I think quite useless. I guess this option would be very nice to have! ... View more

The health and social benefits to physical activity I would imagine are fairly easy to quantify using strava, but what about the societal benefits? I think it would be interesting to record types of community activities that occurred during a bout of physical activity, as a multiple option pick-list. The pick-list could then be associated with related challenges, goals and achievements with a door opening for collaboration with other organisations, as an example, surfers against sewage and beach tidying. In recent weeks and months I've heard multiple examples whereby someone was running or walking in the local community and as a result was the first to respond to a situation where someone was in need of help, some examples: a domestic incident that required the police, a fire, elderly neighbour struggling with shopping.  This list should also include community activities such as volunteering and litterpicking/ plogging which have been mentioned as ideas individually, but these are just single examples of community action among many others that could be included. There would be a far higher probability of physically active community members responding to events within their community on a daily basis compared to those that stay inside, it's like having unofficial community champions deployed in their millions across the globe! ... I previously posted similar in the leader boards forum: I would like opt out from including my activities on leader boards, by default, or ... make it an opt in feature for general users instead of opt out. One comment I got back previously was to change privacy settings. Also, coming into an individual activity after the fact an marking it 'virtual' will disable the data going into leader boards. But these not what I'm looking for here. I'm not concerned with privacy on this. I don't care who sees my times on anything. And I typically want activities to remain public: they sometimes are to show my own explorations on bicycle, with a few photos and some commentary of what I found there, for a given map track. This is one of my uses of Strava and what keeps me engaged in useful exercise. I don't want to manually edit everything as virtual. I do want mileage tracked and on which specific bike. I may look at my own times, or disregard if I can see they are not legitimate. Here is what I don't like about leader boards: if anything goes wrong, I potentially have to hear back from someone about stealing their KOM. 3 historical cases While new to Strava,  in an accident. Traveled to hospital and home in vehicles. Recording was running for several days. I saved it as showing where and when the accident occurred. Received a fake KOM. Erroneous empty recording of an 80+ mile activity by the android phone app. I reproduced it with gotoes.org. Next day I notice I have multiple KOMs Poor GPS signal in the woods puts me on a different trail (a tough climb on gravel and a few erosion control steps) from the one I actually rode that day (easy). I am currently 4th overall and best of the year for a segment I wasn't on. The opinion that has grown on me is that leader boards game is fun concept but doesn't actually work well. But I'm forced into a game I am not interested in playing. Please provide opt out.   ... View more

Allow users to earn badges for completing a particular number of kilometers of cycling, running, or other sports. For example, once you log your first 1000 km on Strava, you receive a Bronze cycling badge. Then silver for 5k km, gold for 20k, diamond for 50k, etc. Badges can be showcased on the profile page or even on the profile picture.  Another way of doing this would be to give a certain number of experience points for each logged kilometer or minute of cycling, running, or other sports. UPDATE FROM THE STRAVA TEAM: EFFECTIVE APRIL, 2024, IT'S POSSIBLE TO GENERATE A  100k SUGGESTED ROUTE ON THE ANDROID APP BY USING THE DISTANCE SLIDER TO SELECT 100KM.   Hi Strava, The mobile app route suggestion builder is great. I would like to have a 100km option.  Here’s why: I can only choose between 80km routes or 120km routes. Selecting 80km often gives me a route between 72 and 85 km. And selecting 120 gives me routes between 115-135 km. A suggested route of 90 to 100 km is hard to get. I have to refresh the suggestions of 80 and 120 a lot.  Here’s how: simply add 100km option to the list. Or add a text input field to provide a specific length. Or even better, a range selector.  Make it fun: linking this to your gran fondo challenge would be extra fun! Add a button on the challenge page to directly suggest a route for your next Gran Fondo. I think it would be interesting to see a milestone mileage badge by a rider's name or profile, simlar/adjacent to the Premium badge. It would be cumulative versus annual, and maybe in intervals of 25,000 miles (or KMs)... or at least large enough to be interesting and not updating all the time. (10,000 KMs might be too small/frequent to be meaningful.) This is on my mind because I'll cross 100,000 miles late February or March, weather permitting.
