Strava Features Chat

Hello Everyone,is there some app around which analyses activities uploaded to Strava and adds the waytypes and surfaces ridden/ran in this activity to the activity description?I really enjoy this feature in the Komoot Routeplanner and would like to see some of this analysis post-ride in my activities.Best regards,Maximilian

Hi I have been using Strava for some time now mainly for road biking, and is superb, but recently I have add a MTB rides for more variety! So my suggestion is to add an separate leader board for elevation. The reason for this is MTB rides are shorter and cannot much road rides , so MTB riders can't compete with road riders for distance , but they can much elevation! Recently I have done 63 miles ride with nearly 3500 ft elevation ( road) and few days later MTB ride 30 miles and similar elevation! I think that will be a perfect add two leader boards one for distance second for elevation so clubs/ riders can achieve something in a different way. Maybe someone cover that topic before, just my thoughts now, much appreciated for any replies and support! 

In Germany it is not possible to get products from „the feed“ so it would be better not to offer the challenge from „the feed“  because I made this challenge and tried it out to get the reward. But it wasn’t possible. Somethings couldn’t generally not shipped to Germany, other products like the Strava bottle only with horrible shipping fees. Greetings & hope that someone can do something 

All those challenges, lets use the strava challenges as examples..... I used to see them all in my feed the minute they came out, I also used to see when everybody else had joined a challenge. Now if i want to join a challenge, I have to go and look for it? Why is this? what has changed with the challenges? Have you made them location based?

Hi is there a way to group multiple rides with say a tag, so that you can view the totals as well as the individual data/statistics? 

Sorry if this type of post is not allowed or is in the wrong spot. I just joined this forum, because I wanted to express my confusion for why there is no medal image or trophy image when scrolling through an activity’s segments. It just says PR or 3rd overall in for monotone boring fashion. What!?! It’s super hard to read the segment list now and you have to physically read each thing instead of scroll until you see a gold medal or trophy. Is this a glitch on my end or some new feature?

The Segments page in the app and on the site formerly featured my route map above the column of segments. This was extremely useful. It allowed me to see exactly where each segment was located within the route. The map is now gone. No reason given. Why would you kill this essential bit of your UI?Why are you degrading useful functionality?

I ride over a certain stretch of road often and have been trying to create routes that use this same stretch of road, but the Strava route builder will detour me tens and thousands of climbing feet out of the way.  The problem is that the road source used in the route map has a stretch of road incorrectly identified as motorway.  What is the best way to fix this?Here's a bit of context.  The road is Pacific Coast Highway in California just south of Las Posas.  This is about 40 miles WNW of Santa Monica.  Pacific Coast Highway is a main cycling thoroughfare connecting the Los Angeles area to Oxnard/Ventura.  Just south of Las Posas the road splits into two travel directions with a pronounced divider.  It looks like a motorway, but the speeds are still 55 mph.  The first offramp is Las Posas and cyclists exit here to continue north.  Because OSM had a short section of PCH labeled as a motorway cyclists were routed through the Santa M

Using Strava routing including unpaved sections is always an adventure. First, those routes almost always include at least one unrideable or even impassible section. Second, the Strava route builder is often refusing to include sections that are well-known and frequently used cycling paths; one has to switch to manual routing to include those. So a feedback system would be great. In the end, the route builder is one of the most attractive benefits of a Strava subscription. If it does not work properly, customers will switch and rather pay for komoot. And when it comes to performance analysis there are ao many alternatives in the market that offer much more for the money than Strava does. So you guys better make an effort to keep the Strava subscription attractive.

Can it be made easier to input your actual weight via the app? I am in the 124lbs and under category but when I look at the leaderboards I see that many people are clearly far heavier than that.  can people then be reminded to enter their correct weight ?

Being a paid subscriber, I've been exploring the use of Suggested Routes in my area via the Strava app. Every suggested route from my home location includes a very unsafe, high-speed, high-traffic road with no bike lane or paved shoulder when the option for a safer route nearby exists. If Strava has the ability to "follow most popular" segments when building routes via the website based off heatmap data, why can't Strava incorporate this type of AI to create suggested routes from the app that map to the "most popular" segments? This would likely avoid segments/roads with little or no heatmap activity and keep cyclists off more dangerous routes. In the attached image, suggested routes include the road circled in red EVERY time. The safer route would be in green.A similar suggestion was made here (

Anyone else having problems with route planning?  Since last week, creating running routes has been problematic, with routes diverting off from roads even when 'follow most direct' is selected.  It's making route planning a pain, wondered if it's a known issue for others?

My understanding for segments is that you have to ride the segment yourself and use only your GPS track to create the segment.  Due to multiple variations in GPS tracking devices, it would be nice to be able to edit the track to reflect the majority of users route, or to accurately match an existing trail.   I'm a trail builder as well as an administrator for adding trails in certain regions and would like to be able to create the segment as close to the trail as possible and not be dependent on my single GPS tracking as it is often off.  To this effect I would also like to be able to create segments on trails similar to creating a Route without actually using a recorded GPS track.  I would assume with the STrava database of Topography and mapping that it should be able to give an accurate reflection of elevation changes, etc. Secondly, it would be nice to be able to show a listing of all segments in a given area in tabular format and exportable

While Strava is at it might as well make it so we can mark on an activity if something was a PR, the time, and the distance. The automatic records are nice but they are usually wrong since GPS watches aren’t always accurate.

Hi, the mobile app used to have the functionality when viewing media (either mine or another athlete) to go straight to the activity. For example, you see they've taken a picture at the top of a famous climb so I'd like to view the activity to see the route, comments, etc. This is no longer available but I just noticed today that it is available on the website. Why is this not available on the app? I imagine most users use the app now rather than the website so this seems a strange change. Maybe unintentional? Thanks, Steve.

I ran a PR on the 5k today.On the activity itself, it says 5k PR 24:00...On the All Time section under profile it says 23:59 from the same activity.Why the difference?

It seems a recent change for user profiles (web version) was made in which data under "side by side comparison" is hidden when the user being viewed hasn't uploaded an activity for a few months. (I'm not sure what the exact timeframe is.) It's this way even for people I'm following. I wonder if someone could enlighten us as to why this was done, or if it was inadvertent, can it be corrected? (Or is it in their settings and I just don't know what I'm talking about?)

I am doing bike training on an ergometer and recording it with my Garmin. Obviously no distance is recorded. The activity itself with time and heart rate is in Strava but without the distance which is anoying as those 1000 km this year I did in the gym are not visible. Why can’t I manually enter the distance as it is possible in Garmin Connect?

On rides, would it be possible to add a graph indicating average moving speed over time/distance?The reason for this request is that I’d like to see (say) that my average moving speed changed over the course of a ride.  For example, plodding along at 15 miles per hour for each of the first 3 hours and then hitting the wall and dropping to 5 miles per hour in the last 10 miles.

I started encountering a problem yesterday, where, using the Strava web interface, I’m unable to open a segment page by tapping on that segment in the overview. It gives me the correct segments and accurate data, but will not open up the webpage or provide the top 10 list. It just starts spinning wheels where that supposed to be. Any ideas?

Hi there, has anyone else noticed the monthly comparison graph has disappeared and how do I get it back?

Hi Strava community,I am new to the community chat but I wanted to share with you my story of how Strava Beacon saved my life on March 1st of this year.I took off for an after work solo fat bike ride on the Meadow Mountain trail in Garrett County MD, around 3PM on Wednesday, March 1st. You see, this is a trail that I normally ride 3 or 4 times every winter on the snowmobile packed surface. The trail is around 20 miles out and back with around 2,300' of climbing.That day the temps soared into the 60's and no snow was to be found on the trail. As I left my car at the north trailhead I turned on my Strava Beacon as I do every ride faithfully. The text of my life went out to my loving wife of 35 years Shawna as normal. Somewhere on a descent at mile 19 I lost control and crashed head first. Long story short, Shawna and my 23 year old daughter Natalie had gone for an afternoon walk at Deep Creek State Park that day when she got the text. Soon after my wife noticed

Anyone else noticing that the number of achievements noted at the top of a ride (summary) is often different from that noted in the segment section?? What’s up w that. Used to always match. Have only seen this in the past year.  

Trophies are displayed quite prominently in the Desktop and Mobile profile pages. On desktop, Trophies are shown above almost everything else, even above the weekly chart, or recent activities and photos.Personally, I join challenges but the resulting trophies have no meaning to me after the challenge is over. My profile page on the mobile app tells me I have 632 trophies so... yay?Is it just me, or is this just a waste of space on the profile tab/page? Curious to hear alternative perspectives.
