This week kicks off the biggest event on the women's cycling calendar; the third edition of the Tour De France Femmes avec Zwift. Beginning on Aug. 12 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the racers will head through Belgium, and finish up in France on Aug. 18.

This year we’ll see 154 riders on 22 teams each trying to get one of the four jerseys that are awarded. Not sure what the jerseys represent? We got you covered:

->The coveted yellow jersey goes to the overall winner
->Green jersey is awarded to the leader of the Points Classification
->Polka dot jersey goes to the leader of the Mountains Classification
->White jersey is awarded to the General Classification leader who is 23 years old or younger

What to learn more? Here’s some fun facts about this year’s race:

  • This year’s course includes 4 mountain ranges: the Ardennes, Vosges, Jura & Alps
  • Total elevation gain: 13,566m/44,507 feet over 27 climbs
  • The Race Director is former French pro, Marion Rousse
  • Over 7 days, there are 8 stages: 3 flat, 2 hilly, 2 mountain and 1 individual time trial
  • Stages 2 and 3 take place on the same day
  • The race usually starts on the same day as the final stage of the men's event, however due to the Olympics this year's start day was delayed almost 3 weeks

Did you know that you can follow some of the riders on Strava? Check out this post where we’ve compiled a number of this year’s racers that you can keep up with. You can also join the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Strava Club for updates and discussions. Be sure to tune in and catch the excitement!
