I would like the option to set default map visibility preferences for activities tagged as commutes. I like using Strava to log my commutes by bike and foot, but have different privacy expectations for these kinds of activities than I do for recreational activities. I'd like to be able to log mileage and share some commute info with Followers, but hide the map from everyone but me.

I realize this idea hasn't gotten much traction here.

I would like to suggest that allowing more granular map visibility preferences, including differentiated default settings, is one way Strava can make the app safer for all users and more inviting for everyday use. This may also help justify the subscription fee for those on the fence about pricing.

Short of being able to set default map visibility for commutes in-app, a step in this direction would be allowing API access to this setting so third-party apps can automate map visibility changes.
