Strava Features Chat

Hi folks, I have completed the Lucy Charles/ Red bull challenge and received the emails for each part of the challenge to confirm this.   But you are also meant to get an email with a code in to complete the online form to enter the competition aspect (winner gets a free race fee).   Any ideas how long this should take or how I can contact Strava to ask?   thanka   ian

When I first discovered Strava around 2013 I was hugely impressed, the idea of competing GPS segments was new and exciting. Had a paid subscription since. My list of of followed and followers grew over 200.  But more and more it started to itch:I do not need a 100 kudos for a daily training. Nor do I need to see the commutes, warm-ups, hikes to the grocery store from every one I follow. It is not the Strava I once liked so much anymore.So I trimmed down my list of followers/followed from 200 to around 40. Now they all appear in 'suggestions to follow'. And all of sudden I appear in theirs! This is not privacy, this is Facebook. Please Strava, be Strava again and stop Facebooking.

Hey there, Has anyone else noticed that in their profile page, all of your KOM's are gone? But when you go to an activity with a segment that you hold the KOM on, it still shows you as the KOM holder? Activities are not reported or flagged in My Activities list. Is this a bug right now on the Strava backend?

I would like an achievement flag for EQUALLED and existing achievement and a way of seeing the delta time to your overall personal PB.At the weekend I went for a fast 5km run.  I achieved 2nd best time for 5km but I can’t see what my all time 5km run time is??Was I just a second or two off or was I minutes away?please please 🙏 

When I go in to flag an activity for being done in a car, there are always at least 3 or more segments that have automatically been excluded by some algorithm. That algorithm is an excellent feature! Isn't it usually the case though, that if it detects 4, 5, 10 impossible segments, the entire activity is probably impossible? Would save a lot of flagging hastle

This never used to be an issue but it started off with just the first photo being out of order. Now multiple photos are uploaded out of order and I have to go back and manually sort them. This is when adding media through the app.When selecting media, it literally numbers them which used to indicate the order they should be displayed in. It was also helpful because of another bug in the app where you can't upload more than 30 something photos at a time or it'll crash the app and you have to start all over again.The QC seems frustratingly bad these days as more and more little things that used to work, don't anymore.

When you upload GPS tagged media from the website it appears where it was taken as long as you use the website. Doing the same from the app doesn't work, would be nice if it did!

A cool feature might be to be able to share activities only with clubs or only with certain clubs. Up to now it has only been possible not to release activities, only to release them for followers or for all Strava users. Releasing activities only to certain clubs would have the benefit of being able to share your activities with your friends and coaches, but leaving your competition out of the loop. In this way, Strava would become a great tool for collaboration between athletes, coaches and training groups beyond its previous functions.

Last month I took part in the Virtual New Balance 5th Avenue Mile. Seemed simple. Run a mile [fast] and Strava would count that in the results. As I always do, I ran several time during the challenge window. I made sure to run one mile super fast. Unfortunately, Strava took a seemingly random mile from that period and uploaded that instead.I'm just trying to figure out if this was a bug or if I did something wrong.

  Here is a feature I use often. On the use profile there is a histogram of weekly mileage shown below. Clicking on each week also shows the total time and the total elevation gain for that week. Until recently there was an option to switch between the "Weekly" stats and the "Monthly", but the "Monthly" option has been removed. Only the "Weekly" option remains. As far as I know there is no longer a way to get the monthly stats in any other parts of the Strava UI. Can someone from Strava comment on this? What was a reason for removing a useful feature. Speaking of this feature. It would also be great to see an up-to-date summary of stats and compare that to the previous years. Basically I want to know whether I am ahead of behind the previous year (and the years before) in my mileage and elevation gain. There used to be a feature in Stravistix plug-

If I go to the Strava Athlete Heatmaps page, I am seeing some strange behavior where some Rides are being shown when I filter for Runs only. It seems like this happens for 2016 and earlier years (and therefore also shows up for the "All-time" option)For example, here'a screenshot showing that I ran around Lake Tahoe. I have sadly not done something so epic..Anyone else seeing this bug? Can someone from Strava take a look? Thanks!

Could weather data be enlisted to create a new grouping of segment achievements (similar to the age / gender / weight groupings) based on wind direction? Wind assisted PR’s and KOM’s can be impossible to compete with. 

With the addition of so many new activities, I now have trouble scrolling through them all on my watch to find the one I want to use and sometimes choose the wrong one. It would be nice if you can choose favorite activities to make them either show at the top of the activities list or hide all activities besides your favorites. Separate note, with all of the recently added activities, how has unicycling not been added yet? I have friends who do this with no way to really record their rides other than using the generic cycling activities and they have no chance of ever hitting leader boards. They need their own.

Does Strava have any sort of location based challenge? Example: a local hiking area has 30 "peaks" and we have a Facebook group tracking a group of people as they hit them. But it would be great if Strava had a feature where we could track them. It would make a lot more sense when tracking things like summiting mountains in hiking ranges, etc.So does anything like this exist?

I was wondering if Strava could add a dislike button to comments, kinda like the Like button

I am receiving double notifications for all of my activities starting yesterday. Just wondering what is happening

Hello,I am a cyclist and use Strava Wear OS. My only issue is that auto pause is not working. I seen it works great in running mode. Moreover, I don't jog, I just rode in jogging mode to try it while cycling. Unfortunately it is not possible in cycling mode. I've witnessed it only work two or three times. And I've noticed that it works if you make a very abrupt stop when going at very high speed. Apart from that, automatic pause works when you enter a place that does not see GPS. But, no working never outdoors. And, I'm using Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS device.Anyone having the same problem and found a solution?Thank you.

First off all sorry that the folowing screenshots are in German. Hope this won't be big issue.When I receive new kudos or one of my favorite contacts uploaded a new activity I receive a push notification:When I klick on this notification I am directed to the corresponding activity. I can check who elso gave me kudos or I can leave kudos and/or comments on my favorite friends activity. So far so good.The question is: If I do like above why does the number batch on the bell and home symbol not disappear? Why is it still necessary to first open the notifications (bell symbol) and then switch back to the home screen again to make the number batch disappear?Is there anything here that I'm missing or could this be revised?

I have recently noticed an influx of previously unheard-of riders who have appeared in the Club I ride with.  I am not the administrator of the Club, but I thought I would ask the question anyway - "how has this happened, have any other clubs come across this glitch, and how do we remove them"?  They are also clogging up the Leaderboard!

Hello,I have some difficulty to really appreciate the Start Points feature on map because it’s misleading with real geographic points.For instanceI can see ‘Start Point to [summit name] with written below ‘x nb of routes’ but I can not see where is this ‘summit name’ which I am interested in.And it arrived that I used the start point location instead of the geographical destination point due to this confusion.If it may be difficult to ensure that associated geographical destination of a Start Point is displayed (such as straight dashed lines in between) I guess it could be possible to see the routes which are associated to those start points ?From my knowledge, I was not able to see them, but only the suggested routes corresponding to the active criteria. I was looking for a hill segment that I wanted to try for the first time, and when I found it discovered that I was already recorded in Strava as having done it.  I looked at the route that I had supposedly done (on 22/05/2022) and it's one that I have never completed.  It does start and end a couple of miles from where I live, and there are some parts that I have done as recently as yesterday(!), but there are others which I don't know at all.  It feels very odd. Has this happened to anyone else?

Feature: Define the default equipment depending on the activity type.For instance: I use different running shoes when running on the treadmill/virtual run than when running outdoors.Also it would be great to have another rule to do the same based on distance of the activity     

Hi, is there a possibility to switch all stored routes from private to public? Does anyone now how to do. To edit a route and switch while store the changes is well known, but not possible for more than 250 routes.

Hi,I'm a long time user of Strava. But lately a missing hiker have been missing in my nearby area.And few questions remain about what could have been done, with the use of the community.Discussions and community process over rescue are not easy, and quite often spread over many facebook group/forum and apps. And when I believe it is important to leave the professional do the job.Sometimes after few days, lack of budget for the rescue, and or other reasons.The search stop. What remain most of the time is to find the body of the missing person, to help the family. My question for Strava:Is there any way that the search of a area can be done with multiple user, using a heat map to know the covered ground of specific hickers or the community, get access to photo and or any data who could help save lifes? Latest informations seems to have people sharing tracks on Gaia, but nothing easy or simple like t

A little while ago Strava added the classification of "CR" for bike leaderboards (and presumably for other Activity types) in addition to KOM and QOM.  So we have CR for the fastest ever performance, KOM for fastest male and QOM for fastest female.  When I am displaced from a leaderboard I usually get a message of the form "...You just lost your KOM on Strava Segment by x seconds".  Yesterday's message was "...You just lost your CR on Strava Segment by 2 seconds" and when I look at the Segment it shows another person has the CR and I still have the KOM (2 seconds slower) - this is fine and would simply mean the other person hasn't declared themselves to be male.  However, if I filter the leaderboard to show men only it shows the other person first and I am second.How can someone be top of the "men only" leaderboard but an inferior performance (mine) has the KOM ?Did I misunderstand something or do I need to raise a ticket with the support team ?
