This suggestion based upon this thread within The Club Hub/Clubs Chat: https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/the-club-hub/feedback-from-a-group-admin/m-p/14292/highlight/true...

Both the Cohasset Waverunners (https://www.strava.com/clubs/541333) and Montmartre Vélo Club (https://www.strava.com/clubs/montmartreveloclub) report using other apps to enable coordination among their memberships - Waverunners via GroupMe and Montmartre Vélo via WhatsApp.  Waverunners has a small membership here on Strava but a much larger one in GroupMe.

Could Strava either create functionality to allow club members to communicate in real time to all other Strava club members or partner with an app like GroupMe, WhatsApp, or Viber to offer this same capability? I'd imagine that just about every club needs to coordinate group activities among those interested.

Without coffee, chocolate, and beer, in that order, life as we know it would not be possible

Hi,

First of all, congrats on the launch of in-app Messaging 👏
It must have been a huge project for you.

The first use case I thought for this feature isn't covered yet (and I'm surprised it hasn't been asked for already) → the ability to create a group conversation with the participants of a club event!

(similar to what Google Chat does for your meetings)

We have a club of around 50 active members which mostly revolves around a WhatsApp group.
We create weekly club rides on Strava and share them on WhatsApp. There's between 5 to 20 participants for each ride.

Usually when someone is late or lost the group, he has to message everyone on WhatsApp instead of just messaging the persons present on the ride.

It would be great to have group conversations directly created for each club event.
If the conversation was not used the day after the event, it disappears automatically.
It would incentivize sharing pictures from that ride, maybe some trash-talking pre-event, etc

Thanks,
Nicolas

When one creates a Club Event it would automatically start a group message with everyone that joins the event.

The way I envision this is: if you create a club event you would be added to this group message. At this point, only the creator is added to the chat. Every time someone clicks the "I'm In" button, that person would be added to the group message. If you are to remove yourself from the event, you would automatically be removed from that group chat.

This would be very helpful because, for now, if you are on the website, you can add a message to the event but people who only use the app do not see those messages.
