Display who created a segment and include a means to contact them or a discussion feature within the segment page that notifies them of someone trying to contact them.  Segments are frequently created with poor GPS data, poor start/stop points, or duplicating segments already available.  Allowing a means to contact the creator, either directly or through a proxy, will allow others to provide feedback to improve the segments and reduce duplication where possible.  Many times, the creator could make a small adjustment to the start or stop points of a segment to resolve issues, but instead, since there is no way to find who created it, someone ends up making a duplicate.  This just clutters to database over time.  There is one segment in my area that has 7 separate segments created for it, all with only very minor differences.  When one person sets a new KOM, the previous holder gets 7 notifications.  This is ridiculous and unnecessary.  Strava techs refuse to help clean up the database, yet they don't provide users with any tools to do so themselves.   Another solution would be to name local moderators who have some ability to edit segments or contact the creators so it isn't just open source to everyone else if privacy is the concern.

Two years now and no implementation of segment creator visibility?

Here are my reasons to support this topic:

1. Inaccurate or duplicate segments due to trail/road modification (or other reasons).

If a trail (or road) gets substantially modified where a segment occurs, then that existing segment will no longer accurately reflect the current trail. It would be great if that existing segment could be deleted and then re-made with the updated trail. But, in order for the existing segment to be deleted, the creator of the segment would likely need to be contacted. Otherwise, there would need to be a feature to easily submit a "request for removal" of a segment (perhaps with various options for the reason(s) of why the segment should be removed).

Besides segments that are no longer accurate, there are many segments that are duplicates and/or simply poorly created segments. It would be great to either see who the segment creator is (so that they can be contacted), or have a "segment removal request" feature.

2. Discover new segments and riding areas, and promote collaboration.

This is getting into the more social aspect of things, but it would be great to explore a segment creator's profile and perhaps see a collection of all the segments that they created. This would allow users to discover new segments and riding areas (like new trails). Maybe it would be cool to even have a page where it shows a map with all the public segments that a user created. This could help people find new roads/trails that they never thought existed. With the discovery of new places, this may trigger collaboration with real-life groups or clubs and lead to further social connections to get more people together doing what they love.

Please implement this Strava team!
