Minimum Segment Length.... on Zwift (and other virtual cycling platforms)

Strava recently increased their minimum segment length to 500 meters, from the 300 meter mark where it's been for several  years.As the person maintaining the library of Strava segments for Zwift, I find this new requirement to be overly restrictive. 300 meters was already too long, in fact. 500 meters is just silly.Most Zwift sprints are too short to be made into Strava segments, and certain sections of the Alpe du Zwift climb are also too short.I understand that Strava engineers are concerned with the inconsistent recording of GPS coordinates on various devices, but this isn't an issue on virtual platforms where coordinates are consistently written to your fit file data. (Zwift records every 1s, for example.)For that reason alone, shorter segments should be allowed on virtual platforms, since accuracy is ensured across all users.There are quite a few other reasons why I believe the 500-meter requirement is silly, and I've detailed those in this post: https://zwiftinsider.com/str

Hide an activity from one person

Probably been brought up before but i'd like to hide individual activities from a single follower.  Right now the options are "everyone, followers, no one".For example if someone's boss follows them and they are spending the winter in Spain rather than home in the UK 😉 😉

Display laps for cycling in the android app.

Hello,I like to manually hit the lap button on my Garmin Edge while riding my bike in order to get information about the section of a course I am on.I know that the information about when I hit the lap button is actually synced to Strava, as I am able to display the laps on the website. But in the android app there is no way.I would find helpful to have this whole feature ported to the android app. Especially displaying where on the map the lap has been, and having a list of laps with generic information.Thanks for considering.

Routes no longer follow roads on iOS

It seems that a recent iOS update has broken the way routes are shown on iOS. Here’s an example route:https://www.strava.com/routes/3289692473352562718 In the web route editor, the route displays like I would expect it to. On iOS, however, the same portion looks like this:  It seems like the iOS route viewer is only showing a fraction of the vertices required to actually draw the route so that it follows roads. It makes following along the route much harder, and I’ve taken the wrong turn more than once because of this.Is anyone else seeing this, and any ideas on how to fix it?

Why has looking at a picture become so complicated on the app?

Previously, on iOS, when scrolling through the activity feed, if I wanted to see a picture full screen I just tapped on the picture and that was it.Now all of the sudden when I do this, I have to wait for the activity details to load, the picture opens on the top of the screen, the activity details get shown below the picture and I have to tap again on the picture to see it fullscreen?Why is that?I don’t want to wait for the activity details to load, since I don’t care about them, I just want to see the picture in full screen. On top of that I have to tap, wait, and tap again to look at that picture, while before it was a single tap and a lot faster.

Anomalies in Segment Leaderboards ?

I noticed something strange last week where my PR on a Segment didn’t appear properly on a Leaderboard (an inferior time was there instead).  I didn’t take a lot of notice, but today I see something similar on another Segment.  There is a Segment near where I live that I have attempted many times (over 100).  A couple of days ago I noticed that my PR was 1:01 and I was 47th out of 2358.  Today I looked and it still says my PR is 1:01 but the performance used in the Leaderboard is 1:09, for 199th.  I’m not aware of anything I might have done to cause this change.  I can only assume that something must have happened to the Activity (from 2020) where I did the 1:01, such as it now being flagged as “Private” or falling within the visibility exclusion zones at the start or end of the ride - I checked both these and the 1:01 Activity can be seen by “Everyone” and there is no visibility exclusion zone.  Is something else happening that is causing this apparent corruption on the Leaderboard ?

Feedback: recent update to heatmaps makes creating routes difficult

UPDATE FROM STRAVA: Thanks so much for writing in and providing this feedback. This is something that we are aware of and currently looking into. We're actively working on solving this gap in user experience and weighing this feedback into consideration as we work on an update. We appreciate your time and patience. a recent feature seems to have filtered heatmaps based on the sport type when routing. i suspect that this is broadly a great feature, but it has now made gravel routing very difficult because of the data sparsity (a large % of people don't select "gravel ride" on their activities, most rides aren't gravel anyways, etc.). plus there's so much overlap in gravel and road routes anyways, so aggregating that data makes sense imo. the road heatmaps work great here, but the only way to get them to show up is to change the sport type to road cycling, which affects the routing. I prefer to use "gravel ride" as the sport to get good autorouting ("prefer dirt" has its issues since it

Strava Beacon does not work on Samsung or Apple watch any more.

Beacon stopped working with my Samsung Ultra watch about six months ago, and my buddy has the same issue with his Apple Ultra watch. Both beacons stopped working pretty much at the same time.  Beacon only works if the phone is currently connected to the watch, and stops sending as soon as you’re out of range of the phone. Both watches are LTE. I opened a ticket as well, 3265802. Strava has ignored me completely. The only response I’ve gotten was asking if I still needed assistance! I’ve tried uninstalling the app on both phone and watch and then re-installing. I’ve tried deleting contacts and re-adding them. I’ve turned beacon on and off. Nothing helps. I am a paid subscriber, as I realize Beacon requires this. What especially irritates me is Strava support just ignoring me for almost a month now.

Je n'avais pas eu de problème avant aujourd'hui. Avez vous une solution ou un paramètre à modifier à me conseiller ? Translation: Hello. On my last jogging outing, the map of my route did not appear... even though in the settings I chose "map" rather than "support". I had not had any problems before today. Do you have a solution or a setting to modify that you can recommend?

Why does connecting Facebook to Strava requires changing the password to my Facebook account?

Hello, everytine that I try to connect Facebook to Strava, it opens a new window - redirects me to the FB app and then I have to sign in with my Facebook details, after that, it sends a code to my email, and after insertig that code, it requires me to change my current password. Why is that? I don’t think this is necessary or safe at all. Thank you in advance for support.

Route planning - reverse the route

Load a route in the route planner on the website (or app). Duplicate the route, reverse the route direction, and save. Typically this means changing from clockwise to counterclockwise or visa versa. That would be a lot easier than building a new route manually.Or load a route, reverse it, and save it.

Reimporting workout from mi fitness

Hello,During a recent workout, I encountered an issue with the Mi Fitness app failing to synchronize the GPS track from my Mi Band 7 Pro. By the time the problem was resolved, Strava had already synced the workout without the GPS data. Consequently, I now have accurate information with the track on Mi Fitness but not on Strava. Is there a way to manually trigger a sync? I'm concerned that deleting the workout on Strava might only make it invisible, with Strava still retaining the record of having downloaded this workout.

Strava Fitness vs. Training Peaks Fitness - why there is so much difference?

I am using a Suunto watch to record activities. The data is analyzed in Suunto App which uses training metrics powered by Training Peaks, which is an established leader in this area. The same data is uploaded to Strava that provides its own training metrics. In both cases I can see Fitness / Fatigue / Form metrics that, as I understand, are supposed to be based on the roughy the same formulas. However the metrics look quite a bit different. Let’s do a comparison.Here is the Training Peaks data from Suunto app for the last 8 weeks. You can see that the Fitness metric has been going mostly up from 43 on 1/6/25 to 56 on 3/2/25 - 30% increase. That seems reasonable to me as I’ve been ramping up the volume. The intensity remained roughly the same because I train for ultra distances. Note how smooth the fitness graph is overall, which is reasonable because the fitness level doesn’t really change that fast. Also note the clean representation of the Form metric, which is essential to targeting

Is there a way to turn off segments and kom/qom when doing walks? I think it’s ridiculous to track speed when just walking.

Offline maps iphone not working

I have a premium subscription and would like to download and use maps and routes offline. Can this be done?I’ve “downloaded” some routes, and the appropriate icon turns red. However, I cannot access them offline - when I try to press them nothing happens. I can’t find any option to download a map offline (the way fatmap used to have). Am I missing something?

Android app v407.10 having map issues

The new map engine was recently expanded on Android and beginning today I am seeing a new problem. Firstly, the 3D is not working. Here's a shot of Mt Everest, which is known for being pretty tall, but it is rendered flat:This was not a problem a few days ago. Curiously the Alps seem to be working but other mountain areas worldwide aren't.Strava recently touted they have new winter satellite maps, but on this skiing activity it looks no different from the standard map:I am also having pan and zoom issues where the map becomes unresponsive to all inputs requiring restarting the app. If I had to guess it's because the camera is in an otherwise disallowed location due to the 3D not loading correctly.  And it's not new but it still boggles my mind that over a month after its more widespread integration there is still no compass for orienting north! I get that things break sometimes, but it was broken from launch.  For your reference I am using Pixel 7 Pro on Android 15. I have cleared cach

„trail run“ not an option to choose?

Hi, I run on trails a lot and recently learned I am supposed to be able to log runs as a trail run. But somehow that’s not possible for me. If I want to edit the run later, I can only choose between “run”, “long run”, “workout” and “commute”. No trail run option in sight. I am using an iPhone. Anyone with the same problem?

I’m trying to renew my Strava subscription but it tries to charge me much more than it’s charging in my country. I’ve raised a ticket 4 WEEKS ago and I got not a single response. This is just plain disrespect towards clients. What can I do?

I am trying to find the first bicycle ride I recorded on a specific bicycle “Gear” in Strava. I cannot find a way to search or filter activities by Gear. Is there a way to do this?

Moving time and elapsed time not correct

The last three times I have run using Strava it has incorrectly had my moving time less that half the time of my run. For example this morning I ran 12.3km in 1 hour 11 minutes (without stopping) yet my moving time is listed as 29 minutes.As a result my average pace is completely wrong and all segments are wrong.It is correctly tracking the distance I have covered so don't see how this could be a gps issue? Also I have used RunKeeper simultaneously, which has worked fine. I am having to delete my Strava activity and port from RunKeeper.Any idea what is causing this? I have been using Strava with no problems with my phone for a long time so don't understand why it has started doing this?
