Strava Features Chat

Hi Guys,A friend of mine has the Strava app, and for her the average speed is displayed in hundredths, whereas for me, it’s in tenths. We are both free users, and haven’t been able to find anything where this can be set. I would very much like to have the speed in hundredths too, if possible. Is there a way of setting this?My second question is that right now, it’s showing live speed instead of average. I’ve read that this is because the free subscription preview is active. Is there any way to end the preview early, so that I can get average speed back?Thanks, Harry

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the  flyby page isn’t loading on my account. I’ve tried firefox, chrome and the microsoft one and also on different pc’s but it’s always the same. I’mat a loss. Here’s the screen I get. 

With Garmin and other watches, there are ‘track run’ modes that calculate the distance of an activity based on the number of laps of an athletics track, rather than directly from the GNSS trace. This results with an activity distance that precisely relates to the distance of the effort. However, when that activity is uploaded to Strava, I’ve found that Strava’s own distance-calculating algorithms are applied and the distance comes up short (eg: 5000 m track run came out as 4999 m) This is problematic as the ‘true’ distance is likely to be a ‘best effort’ distance, so losing any amount may result in a new best effort performance being overlooked (fortunately not the case in my example).My suggestion: if the uploaded activity is a track run, do not apply smoothing distance algorithms and retain the original distance value.

When you select a specific sport for your heatmap on the maps tab, that carries over to an activity of another sport despite what the label says. The map tab is acting as a master switch. I had my map set to walk activities only: Then opened an athlete's ride which still shows my walking activities while claiming ride:For comparison this is some of my ride heatmap in the area:If a user wants to change which activities' heats are displayed, they have to back all the way out to the main map to change it. It would be ideal if loading activities automatically selected the appropriate heatmap type and I assume this behavior is unintentional. 

I would like a feature that allows me to propose a ride to everyone or a small group to do together with some basic information such as: planned route, meeting place, time, maximum number of participants, level. Users who live or are in the area of the planned meeting point should receive a notification and be able to propose themselves to join the tour. The organiser should be notified of participants, and the possibility to register should stop when the maximum number of participants is reached.The organiser should be informed about the participants.

Hello,I created a Group Challenge for my company (from April 24 to May 25), but I’m having trouble sharing it. When I try to invite participants, I only see the option to invite my followers — there is no visible option to copy or share a link.I’d like to share this challenge more broadly within my organization, but I can’t find a way to get a public or sharable link.What would you suggest? Thanks in advance for your help!

My activity data is not entered into the Starava application, while it is recorded in my watch application. Please help. 

I am a wheelchair user, but can run using a running frame. Strava does not give Framerunning as an activity to choose from, even though there are more and more people practicing this sport. Today all of a sudden Strava is telling me there is a problem with my activity and I have too choose another sport. I could choose cycling, the frame has wheels, however the frame allows me to run. And there are still runners that run faster than I do. I don’t want to get this error with each activity.,,, how do I resolve this when Strava doesn’t want to recognize the actual sport I practice?

Did a 11 min eliptical today but only got credit for the last minute and change because of moving time. Of course my gps didn’t change, it’s an eliptical 

I like using the mobile app to track my training and actual performance, but would prefer not to have the new performance predictions showing up as they are orthogonal to what I would like to use Strava for. Where in the app can I opt to hide or remove these predictions? I gather from this site that one way is to stop subscribing, but was wondering if there was another way?

Hi there,This is my first post here. I just realised that Rouwy users are now able to be ranked in KOM leaderboards.And, well… My hometown is home of two cobble sectors of Paris-Roubaix (four and five-stars respectively). I was a bit surprised to see that some “random” user of Rouwy was claiming KOM on the combined segment of the hardest of them two and the next cobble sector over Tadej Pogacar 🙃. And the same user was quite high in the classification on the four-star one. Power outputs (for the ones available) being quite far the ones from the first pros.I mean, yes, Rouwy *might* be accurate on asphalt, but on cobbles, I highly doubt it.I fear that this might alter the sincerity of the KOM leaderboards.Cheers ! 

There appears to be a bug in Strava. I am currently showing twice on three separate all time  segment leaderboards. One example shown below. I have the CR from 2022, rode the segment again last week and I now show 3rd as well. The CR has also disappeared from my KOM list, with it now showing me in 3rd. A rider should never appear twice in the leaderboard, only your best effort. I have tried refreshing the segment results with no success. Any ideas and has anyone else had the same problem?  

I requested my archives 2 days ago, I didn't get them.Last week I requested my archives but some runs weren't there and when I tried to upload to Coros, it failed multiple times.

Hi all, Apologies if this was answered before (if it was, I couldn’t find it...) Scenario: I record with Strava, and sync to Samsung Health. While in Strava the heart rate data is reflected properly (HR track, avg and max), in Samsung Health I get the HR track, but avg and max are zero. Is it Strava API issue, or Samsung’s? Thanks,Alex

Hello,I have a garmin 830 paired with a Pioneer dual power meter. I have noticed there is a discrepancy in power data on garmin connect and strava. My strava gives me a much lower power average. I have not changed any data on my bike or profile. Do I need to subscribe to premium to get true power readings?

When I click the “Laps” tab for activities at present, I get interminable wait with no results at all being displayed. This is for runs that I know have many laps.

Hi,  Since a week I’m using a Garmin Fenix 7x for tracking my runs: it is connected to my Strava so runs will immediately upload to my strata profile and feed: awesome, but:In my run-details I can see everything except; Hart rate info + Zone info. Although on my watch I can have a full insight, this information is not sync to the run after uploaded.What do i miss? I tried all different steps to fix this:Visibility of hartrate is enabled (In privacy settings) Q&A of other help info site’s as said, strava is connected to GarminConnectPlease help :) Thanks! 

Where can I ask if Strava can create a Racewalk category for activities? Race Walking has been an Olympic event since 1904 and while the numbers aren't huge, I think there might be enough of us to warrant a category. New York area has about 700 hard core Race Walkers that race but there are 34,000 that say they use Race Walking for fitness.  We often use "run" but then we look like slow runners if we post. And some of us use "walk" for a more casual walk. Sorry if this is not the right place to ask, please direct me.Thank you.

Something changed in the heatmap a few days ago where it barely shows anything besides the most used paths and roads. Not a good change. Heatmap used to show very rare trails but now whole areas are filled with nothing. I\m guessing something went wrong and this wasn’t intended to work like this.

Strava recently increased their minimum segment length to 500 meters, from the 300 meter mark where it's been for several  years.As the person maintaining the library of Strava segments for Zwift, I find this new requirement to be overly restrictive. 300 meters was already too long, in fact. 500 meters is just silly.Most Zwift sprints are too short to be made into Strava segments, and certain sections of the Alpe du Zwift climb are also too short.I understand that Strava engineers are concerned with the inconsistent recording of GPS coordinates on various devices, but this isn't an issue on virtual platforms where coordinates are consistently written to your fit file data. (Zwift records every 1s, for example.)For that reason alone, shorter segments should be allowed on virtual platforms, since accuracy is ensured across all users.There are quite a few other reasons why I believe the 500-meter requirement is silly, and I've detailed those in this post: https://zwiftinsider.com/str

Probably been brought up before but i'd like to hide individual activities from a single follower.  Right now the options are "everyone, followers, no one".For example if someone's boss follows them and they are spending the winter in Spain rather than home in the UK 😉 😉 

Hello,I like to manually hit the lap button on my Garmin Edge while riding my bike in order to get information about the section of a course I am on.I know that the information about when I hit the lap button is actually synced to Strava, as I am able to display the laps on the website. But in the android app there is no way.I would find helpful to have this whole feature ported to the android app. Especially displaying where on the map the lap has been, and having a list of laps with generic information.Thanks for considering.

It seems that a recent iOS update has broken the way routes are shown on iOS. Here’s an example route:https://www.strava.com/routes/3289692473352562718 In the web route editor, the route displays like I would expect it to. On iOS, however, the same portion looks like this:  It seems like the iOS route viewer is only showing a fraction of the vertices required to actually draw the route so that it follows roads. It makes following along the route much harder, and I’ve taken the wrong turn more than once because of this.Is anyone else seeing this, and any ideas on how to fix it?
