Strava Features Chat

I think everyone would agree an hour of riding on the trainer can be exercise just as much as an hour on the road, but it is omitted from the hours for the week displayed on the profile web page.This is a bug.

This sunday I ran a 100K with my friend. He has a garmin and when he uploads his files he taggs me and I accept, then strava takes over and I also get the activity, however this activity can not be accepted for some reason. We tried declining and inviting again but it does not work also not on my mobile phone.

The activity overview page has no pace showing, only if you click into the activity to see all the data.Is it because I uploaded the merged file of Strava file and iWatch file (by goatees.com)? Does anyone know how to solve it? Thanks! 

I've made a shortcut with the Apple shortcut app to immediately start a new recording with the action button (Using the URL scheme "strava://record/new/start")Since about a week or two when I use this shortcut Strava crashes most of the time.Sometimes it does work (can't really tell why) but most of the time it doesn't.Please fix this.

hi, i am doing a challenge in a few weeks of running 5km on the hour, every hour for 12 hours. How would i track this on an apple watch/ strava so that at the end of the challenge, the total 60km and the pace of the runs would show as one 60km run 

Did something recently change with how KOMs are recorded with regards to ties?  I have a segment I tied for the KOM back in June of 2023.  I checked my KOM list just a couple weeks ago (July 9, 2025) and it was listed on my profile page in my KOM list.  I just checked today and it is not listed there.  I checked the activity and it shows that all is good including another KOM I got that day.  It still lists that segment as me getting the KOM (even with it being tied with the existing KOM).  I checked the segment details and it shows both of us with the same time.  I know that originally, Strava only counted the first person to get a time as the KOM, but that changed a couple years ago.  Did something change back in just the last couple of weeks or is this just a glitch?  I have included links to the segment and my activity below for reference.  I did refresh the activity achievements as well to see if that would fix anything but no change.

I used to be able to see my average pace for the whole run during the run. Now it only shows me average pace for the current split, which is pretty useless for a longer run when I want to make sure I’m on target for my goal. I used to be able to check every km or so and make sure I was on track for my target pace, now there is no such way to stay on schedule. It used to be that it would switch to average split pace during a subscription, but now it’s there all the time. Please can we have a toggle to switch between? Or a solution!

I created a new 1km segment for the bottom of the hill from my activity. It’s fairly straight and simple. My activity is only a partial match of the segment, with no other info given.The segment starts a little ways up the trail from the road where I start, and each lap I ran well past the end of the segment.How can an activity not match the segment when the segment was created FROM that activity gps data? Thanks for any insight! I searched but haven’t come across this issue yet. There were many other matches and a full leader board but not the activity it was made from.

Ich habe gestern über Garmin eine Aktivität aufgezeichnet. Diese wurde von Garmin unter einem falschen Datum (eine Woche vorher) gespeichert und entsprechend falsch mit Strava synchronisiert. Bei Garmin kann ich das Datum nachträglich ändern - aber weder wird die Änderung mit Strava synchronisiert, noch lässt sie sich in der App oder Strava.com manuell ändern. Wie könnte man das korrigieren?Translation: I recorded an activity yesterday with Garmin. Garmin saved it under the wrong date (a week ago) and synced it incorrectly with Strava. I can change the date with Garmin afterward, but the change isn't synced with Strava, nor can I manually change it in the app or Strava.com. How can I fix this?

After pressing record but before pressing start, there was a gear icon to change settings like audio cues and auto pause - after the latest update it has completely disappeared for me? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the iOS app to no avail.

I filed a refund ticket after I was charged for an annual plan following the end of my free subscription. According to the guidelines, I was instructed to cancel the subscription (which I did) and provide proof of the charge, stating that I’m eligible for a refund within 14 days of purchase.It has now been a week since I submitted the ticket, but I’ve received no response from Strava’s customer service. They have also not replied to my follow-up emails.Do you know how I can persuade them to issue my refund?

I have had a huge problem in the last couple of days. I presume there was a Strava app update for iOS. It wiped out the top menu area that used to exist where, after I hit the “Record” button, but before I hit “Start”, I could set preferences, including screen dimming etc., before starting a workout. There used to be at the upper right corner a “gear” preferences icon. Instead, there is empty space at the top. All the controls that used to be on top are gone. So the last settings I have are frozen and I can’t change them. And I can’t even exit the screen after I hit “Record”, if I change my mind: I have to quit the app.

Hello, New to the Community and Subscribed services here. I have enjoyed using Strava for several years now. I have a concern as it has come to my attention that someone in my area is competing for women’s leaderboard results and has recently identified as a female.  He/she was on a collegiate MTB male racing team before coming to this area.  The women here are at a disadvantage and this situation has lessened the enjoyment of segmental competition among the women (gender at birth) who ride and compete on the same segments.  Thoughts?

I’m having the hardest time trying to figure out the best way to set up this challenge.4 Weeks. 4 Winners. All they have to do to be entered to win the prize is to run a 5K. Each week they complete a 5K they’re entered to win but none of the group challenge settings seem to be right.

Hi Strava Developer Team,I’m a long-time Strava user and coach, and I use third-party tools like RunGap to sync training data from Garmin.One persistent issue is that Strava’s API does not currently allow third-party apps to assign gear (e.g. shoes or bikes) when uploading activities. As a result, this information needs to be manually updated every time, which breaks the otherwise smooth syncing workflow and diminishes the value of tracking gear-specific stats like shoe mileage.Could I request that you consider adding support for gear assignment via the Activities API — either by gear ID or name — during upload or in a subsequent PATCH call?This would benefit a lot of users who work across platforms.Thanks for considering this, and keep up the excellent work.All the best,Sean BarkesProfessional Coach

Hi,I wanted to adjust the HR zones from the default to the Karvonen ones, as they seem more realistic for me. On doing this i discovered that even though this change boosted time in zone 4 (less zone 3) for near identical rides, it halved the RE (relative effort).On inspection just the act of switching the HR zones to custom, but setting the zone boundaries to those calculated by the 'auto' feature had the same effect. (Forcing a recalculation by switching ride type and back)I want to carry on getting the consistent RE so I can look at the historical 'fitness' (aka training load) data, so I shall carry on with the Auto zones. To me this can only be a bug, unless there is something I am missing?

I’d like to see more attention paid to managing cycling gear, especially the historic categorization and usage monitoring for components carried over from bike to bike. Currently, there’s no way to transfer an any component from one bike to another to continue mileage and use case tracking.  For example, using all the existing components from a “current bike” and moving them to a new frameset.  Another example would be using multiple chains in rotation, in particular, waxed chains.  Right now, there can only be 1 iteration of a component linked to a “current bike”.The only option is to create a new ”Bike” and monitor its progress from there. Additionally, the starting date of a component can’t be retroactively set, leaving little to no options for reusing parts from one bike to another.From what I understand, a components “starting date” could be useful here.  I cannot be the only person who re-uses parts across bikes.

The global heatmap is not loading for me on android when I click. I have to reinstall the app to make it appear.

Hi Strava!  Not saying that the ‘See this Place’ pictures aren’t helpful for some, but I find them to be very inconvenient / distracting.  I LOVE the Strava Heatmap, it’s how I plan out so many of my runs, and I enjoy looking back and seeing how much terrain I’ve conquered on feet!  But having giant unasked for pictures really puts a damper on it.Is there a way you could create an option to toggle this on/off?  That way, folks that enjoy the feature can keep using it, but the rest of us have a cleaner option :) Your #1 fan,Max

This has always been the case that only very few people show up on the heatmap with their ebike activities. Whether it’s ebike or e-mountainbike activity classification. The map is practically empty with no traces for ebike activites. I can see my personal ebike traces from My Heatmap option but none of them show up on the Global Heatmap for the ebike options. By now there are hundreds of emountainbikers on Strava in this area but I only see the traces of a handful of riders on the Global Heatmap. It’s practically empty when switching over to ebike activites.

- "You" - "Progress" At the top, I'd like to suggest that adding a metric directly conveying recent progress - 1D/1W/1M averages or Last 3 / 1W / 1M averages Ex:X Time (mins.) / mi. (Over all 3 in a grid or graph)X Total (mis.) (Over all 3) - "You" - "Activities" Add the same filter buttons for your activities (that are on the "Progress" tab).  Ex.ALL,  Run, Ride  Just subscribed to the trial. I get that Strava wants to promote new features, but this constant pushing out the new features on top and pushing of the old features down in the Home tab and You tab is something that I find frustrating! There are more and more features, which is good, but the app quickly loses simplicity and becomes less usable.What I mean is that there is now a new area on the top of the feed that shows me the streak.OK, I've got a 481 week streak, which I was perfectly happy not knowing about before. I know that I am never going to skip a week, so this whole streak thing is kind of pointless to me. I am not interested whatsoever in this feature, so having it in my face every time I use the app is annoying. What I really want to see and use all the time is my training log, and that is now buried deep inside the You tab because there are a lot of things on top of it that I don't care about - the streak thing, performance predictions, goals, etc.There should be a way to let me priori

One of my analysis on my own training is to look at my ride map and view it in power zones based on my selected FTP/Vo2max, when I look at power and heart rate in general its very difficult to see the strain on the effort, on my own Api I have done this at the top of the picture you can see the the power zone for each and including the FTP calculated, I have other options to filter segments and laps, also the time aggregated average so bunch the wattage every 20 seconds,30, 60, 2 minutes, thats what the sliders alow you to adjust
