Strava Features Chat

I have loads of routes but when I click on one via the mobile app, you can’t work out which route is yours because the map shows all routes in the area. I can’t work out how to turn that off. Photo above of my 18km run route amidst all the others

Hello With the release of version 421.8 I've got my navigation map about 1/3 covered with popup screens which I have no use for while e.g. hiking, and which are not possible to hide. This prevents me of having a good overview over the surrounding terrain while moving. In the previous version the distance, avg speed was on another collapsed screen which I had no need for to see constantly. This new feature on version 421.8 is very annoying to me. Planning to quit subscription threfor and switch to Komoot which is more suitable for hikers... 😬 

Hi Strava Support,I recently discovered the gear tracking feature and added my bike to my account. I set the gear's start date to a point in the past (when I actually started using it), but I noticed that Strava only begins counting kilometers from the date I added the gear — not from the backdated start date I selected.At the time I started using the bike, I wasn’t aware of the gear feature. It would be very helpful if Strava could retroactively assign past activities to gear based on the chosen start date.Is there a way to apply gear to past activities automatically based on that date, or is manual editing the only option?Thanks in advance!Best regards,Boštjan

There are three items within our running/cycling group that have really been chafing us: I’m not sure how to completely describe this but I’ll give it a go - across the top of the map, a “layer” of buttons was added whereby you can “Upload GPX”, “Reverse Route”, Redo/Undo, Trash, Display Heatmaps, and Display segments, etc. A large number of the phantom “distance jumps”  -and- “Red Box - Sorry We Couldn’t complete...” errors are due to this layer interfering with dropping a waypoint.  Any time a waypoint is added on the top 15-20% of the map, it registers a waypoint was added but fails to formally assign it to a location as this “layer” seems to interfere.  As the mouse moves, the waypoint sticks to the cursor and causes all kinds of havoc because it can’t actually place the waypoint.  If you are re-routing, this same issue causes a secondary problem because it will also plot the “finish flag” in the same location once it fina

I have seen several people raise concerns about integrity of Segment leaderboards, mostly due to the wrong Activity type (using an E-bike on a "ride" or a bike on a "run") or leaving Strava running at the end of an Activity and hence recording a subsequent car journey. For what it's worth, here's my approach to trying to help maintain Segment integrity in my area.  In the last 5 years I have attempted about 6200 bike Segments, all within a few miles of where I live.  I use the excellent VeloViewer companion for Strava which allows me to get lists of all my Activities and Segment efforts.  It allows me to export data to a spreadsheet and so I can have a spreadsheet of all the Segments I have attempted, complete with my leaderboard position, best time, KOM time, etc.  Generally the Segment data is very good with very few suspect KOMs.  Roughly once per week I download the data to a spreadsheet and do a comparison with equivalent data from the week befor

It would be cool to see your cumulative distance in km/mi for each year totaled with all the sports. 

I wish to have my profile location set as Edinburgh, Scotland, however regardless of what I do in edit profile (app or website) United Kingdom is always added to the end of my location. Any suggestions on how I resolve?

I have an iphone 14 pro. When I am recording, my live segments (that are stared) aren’t showing. Yes, they are inclines, yes they are starred etc etc. Prior to pausing and then renewing my membership, they worked. I believe someone online said they temporarily canceled and then started back up their membership and had the same issue. And Strave had to do something on their end to fix but I have created tickets, the first over 2 weeks ago, I get generic responses after several days to a week with solutions that don’t apply or I have already tried. 

I added seatpost and pedal components to my bike in My Gear.  I noticed after doing this that the Seatpost and Pedals options are no longer on the dropdown list.How am I supposed to choose new pedals and seatpost/dropper when I replace them in a few months?  The components I have listed on each bike should be a running list, not just the new replacing the old.I want a history of what is on the bike, for example:Front tire put on June 2022Front tire replaced July 2023etc, etc.This way we can know how long we had components on our bikes, how much life we got out of them, or simply when we upgraded to new parts.Thanks

Hi all! During my last workout my Garmin noticed that I ran my Personal Best on 1 km at 4:58/kmHere attached the detail of the run, where my fastest km is ? I can’t see it. Where the record is evaluated?Furthermore, there's a huge difference somewhere from pace (passo medio) and gap (GAP medio), see lap 4, 4:34 to 5:13, very strange as the run was totally flat.... ;-)Thank you! 

 When checking a new record over a route I did yesterday, the visualization of the segment name looks wrong, and seems that is displaying the name of the variable. This is not happening when checking the route/segment on desktop.Steps:Using the mobile app go into the activity https://www.strava.com/activities/15210464622 Click on the bronze medal  The pop up shows the variable instead of the segment name  Desktop visualization:

We are expecting the fix to go out soon - once the fix is out, we’ll be sure to update this thread and let you know!  Hello all, I'm having an issue when trying to zoom out on a map screen where it starts to zoom out to see anything an area but then the whole screen goes white like a cloud cover & i can't see anything. This does it on my own maps aswell as friends maps. Strava has been updated to the latest version & is running on an android s24 . 

Why now do I see “CO2 saved” on the downloaded map when its not a commute but just a ride? I could give a toss on any ride how much CO2 I save or create. How do I get rid of this on the saved maps?

Clicking on the media doesn’t do anything. If I clicked ok the most left media, it exits the profile page. And if I clicked on the most right media (All Media), it goes to setting coz the icons overlap.

This bug has been annoying me for months. I use a feature that prints my played tracks on Spotify in the activity description. I usually add something descriptive about my ride and add that *before* the playlist.If I use [enter] for a line break in that text, the cursor is then magically jumping to the very end of the description, and my fingers working faster than my mind often backspaces a bit, then deleting some of the playlist entries. This is clearly an input error of some kind in that particular field, and I also have an incredibly hard time selecting text over several lines, because the text is first moving slowly, then moving super fast.This is on a fully updated iOS, the scrolling snafu mentioned towards the end might be an iOS thing, but the [enter] issue is unequivocally only present on the Strava app.

I joined the free trial and I canceled it but after the trial it charged my card I want a refund now please

Hi everyone,I recently encountered an issue with my Strava account. I followed a large number of athletes in a short period of time, and it seems that Strava flagged this behavior as spam. As a result, my ability to follow other users has been temporarily blocked. I'm a genuine user who simply enjoys connecting with and supporting fellow athletes, not a spammer. If anyone has experienced this before or knows how to resolve it, I would really appreciate your help or advice. Thank you!

Try as I might I can’t seem to suss out the path I have to follow that’d bring me to a ‘delete these pics’ button. Seems like it should be in Profile, but for the life of me I’m just not there yet.I managed earlier in the week to stumble onto it, as much for adding an avatar image as to show some scenes from activities I’ve engaged in. Now it’s time to clear out some space, but I can’t find my way back to where that can be accomplished.Any/all appropriate suggestions welcome, thanks!

This is an Android bug.  Repro steps:Scenario 1: Create an activity (either through syncing from Garmin or manually) Tag someone in the post (e,g, “@Bob Smith”) Notice that a second or two afterwards the tagged person’s first name disappears (so just “Smith” is shown) and if you are still typing, the cursor often jumps around. It’s unclear at this point if the person is actually tagged or not.Scenario 2:Same as above, but in the comment section of a post instead of post descriptionRepro rate: 100%

To my surprise I have a difficult hill climb.  The Hill is Challenging for All activities.. Walk, Run, or Ride.Why is something so simple not available in Strava yet.  I created the segment in a Walk, but can’t track the segment in a public segment.  Is there a link I can submit my feedback.. Thank you, Scott.

I have a back up android phone (no sim) that I like too use as an off line map on gravel rides.I used to have my downloaded routes (using wifi) with global heatmap and the back-to-facing-north compass-button. I would combine it with a “real compass to check if I was on the path, that I thought, and if I lost my way or got uncertain the heatmap helped a lot to read the layout of paths in forests so that I could identify my location and get back on track. Same features were useful if I changed plans and wanted to ride an improvised route.This doesn't appear to work as well as it did some time ago:one thing: The compass-button has disappeared (there's a separate topic that goes two months back). It's critical” to know north on the map, and since it rotates quite easily...I don't have to explain.another thing: a week ago or so when I accessed my downloaded maps off line the heatmap wasn't with it any longer. HelpI have been using strava for creating my routes for years, but recently paths that have always been recognised I am no longer able to use, it won't even let me run through a park!I know I can make it work if I login on a web browser but that is not convenient, it was a bit of a nuisance beforehand on the odd path but now it is so many paths it has made the route planning unusable.Has this been recognised by Strava? Or shall I give up now and find a new route planner?ThanksKaty 

A week ago while cycling it would show average speed, current speed, time elapsed, distance elapsed, and heart rate all at once very legibly. Now it flip flops between average and current speed when you’re paused or mid ride, and shows only distance and time elapsed along with the changing speed metric. I understand maybe some people prefer this, but maybe you could just make this optional? I want to revert back to the UI from a week ago.
