Strava Features Chat

I think this counts as a bug. When I first upload a run, the Athlete Intelligence summary will pick up on any detail I might include in the run title or description. For example, if I mention orienteering it will say something like “challenging orienteering run”.Now, the altimeter on my Garmin watch doesn’t work very well, so I almost always use the “adjust elevation” functionality after uploading. After I do this the Athlete Intelligence refreshes, and invariably loses sight of this detail: the summary will now be more generic. It feels like the activity title and description are not being fed to the AI model the second time round.

I appreciate that Strava lets us mask our home location, but I noticed today that prevents us from showing up in leaderboards. Why? The start of a popular climb is nearby my house - just barely in the zone - but the website says I’m way down the leaderboard because of a very old track (apparently before I configured my home area). But how does a segment near my home inform where I live? How is it different than any other segment? Could you ignore our home area for segments?  

I track all my rides and make use of the commute feature. Therefore 80% of my weekly activities are commutes. I have created a club with my family but they only track their training but not commutes. In the club stats I am always by far the best but that's just because all my commutes count towards that. How can I set up the club, so that commutes are excluded? Makes it a bit more fair if you compare club members.

Hello - I’m trying to update the link in my Strava profile for my verified run club. Any advice on how?

I'm curious to know if this is a known issue, or if there is a resolution to an issue I have observed.  In the heat map, I often see large "gaps" in sections that have been ridden.  It would be useful if the sections were contiguous.  In fact, for some longer tours (such as a cross country tour), the heat map line almost entirely disappears when I zoom out.  I have uploaded two examples of this occurring:

At this moment there are too many stupid and not useful segments on the map. They make route creation and segments discovery hard.Take a look at this segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/38298551One person rode from one city to another and made segment out of the whole ride. Nobody will ever ride this route again but segment is there and hides interesting ones.Or this segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/21666799I rode that race but my effort isn’t there. And also there is not a single effort on this segment this year.So what is the point in having this long segment? Again, it hides really interesting ones.I’d like to have an option to hide segments like those. One click and it won’t bother me.Also it would be nice if

I’m now seeing the “Your Weekly Snapshot” at the top of my feed when using the app. I do not enjoy how this serves almost entirely to make me feel bad about my effort so far in the current week. This is detrimental to my experience on Strava.  My training schedule each week is highly variable due to plenty of factors such as work, personal commitments, weather, etc. I should not have to see a feature telling me I haven’t been working as hard when I have been putting in more or the same amount of effort as my schedule allows.  Please enable a toggle for this feature so we do not have to see it. 

Currently it is possible to view "All Run" activities merged together, or "All sports" merged together. I would like a third option added, where all foot sports (running, hiking, walking) are merged. This will make it possible to view things such as active time spent on your feet, and total elevation gain and distance done by feet, without getting the data mixed up by f.ex. cycling. It will also make it possible to set goals according to these metrics. For me this would be very helpful, as I'm in recovery from a knee injury. Total time on feet and total elevation on feet are metrics I'm using to guide my recovery, but currently this is a bit clunky, as I have to manually add the categories together to ensure I'm on the right track. I imagine many others out there are in similar situations - both injured runners, as well as beginning runners. Since “Pride Month” is now over, why is there still there to select a map type? 

Hi, fairly recent updates seem to be a backward step. When zooming out on the map it now appears to disappear up into the ‘sky’ obscuring the route of longer rides with ‘cloud’. Longer linear rides are no longer visible in their entirety and rides in unfamiliar territory, when it was nice to be able to zoom out to locate the ride within a country, are no longer visible!The update to viewing photos in the app also seems to make the viewing experience worse. The whole photo cannot be seen or the description read until each individual photo is selected. Once this is done one cannot scroll through the photos unless you go back to the partial view. It would be far better to be able to select photos and scroll through them being able to read the description as previously.

I recently attempted a 100k ride, but my watch died in the middle, and I restarted the app on my phone to finish. Is there a way to merge the rides so I can call it a true 100k ride?

Is there anyway to change privacy settings by activity type? Or Alternatively stop my garmin watch from uploading certain activity types to Strava? I would like certain activities i.e weight training to be private while other activities (mountain biking, hiking) i would like to be visable on my profile.I lift ~ 5 days a week and don't want to clog up my / followers feeds with weight training activities, but do appreciate the tracking info on the Garmin app... 

Looking to create a virtual 5k race for the club I created and open it up to the public similar to the NYRR races. Does anyone have any experience with this?Similar “events” offer rewards and functionality that I’m not sure how to access.

Can we please have the option to switch back to the old 1:1 share layout for the map? The new one feels a bit off, and the gradient doesn’t help.  

Apart from not having any ‘flying’ activity type, i would like to record my hike-and-fly activities in Strava, and show the true elevation (e.g. in the 3D map plot). Now Strava ‘collapses’ my elevation, even though I use a Garmin Fenix with barometric altimeter. So it’s ‘true’ elevation, not inaccurate GPS height. There seem to be no activities that keep the true elevation, and the option to ‘recalculate elevation’ is gone in the UI. If this is not working anymore, should I make a request to implement such a feature?

The specified Meetup Address on a new Event is NOT being saved.  This is happening on the Strava website.  Note that there has been an update to the dialog for specifying new event details - including the meetup address.  The specified address is simply erased.  I’ve had to add the meetup location to the event description.  This is not the first time that an update to the website has introduced a regression to basic functionality.  Do you guys run any tests before pushing out an update?  Would greatly appreciate that this bug gets fixed asap.

With the recent update to the strava website, segments have been added to the "Maps" portion of the site. This is a cool interface, however I cannot easily filter cycling segments by climb category anymore. This was one of the most useful features that I found, especially when trying to get a sense of how flat/hilly/mountainous an area is before visiting, and seeing which routes are most popular. I can now only seem to filter by length and for elevation "any" flat" "hilly" or "climb." This has been pretty unhelpful for planning cycling trips and routes in new areas, and comparing different places. I understand that it can be useful when visiting a flatter city to have the "hilly" option give me 50ft climbs since that is all there is, but I would like to be able to filter climbs by category and see what does and doesn't exist in an area. Re-adding the filter by category feature that was on the old segment explore to the Maps page would be extremely useful.

Hello everyone I have been using Stravas updated map features quite a bit recently and wanted to share some feedback. I will go through what I like and also point out a few things that could be improved. I hope this helps others who are exploring these changes and possibly inspires future updates. Activity Map Changes Positive Impressions• Preserved Gradients: When you select a map type such as Time, that color gradient remains visible on the map itself. This is especially helpful for loop routes because you can immediately see the direction in which you were moving. I really love this new feature!• Award Overlays: This is a nice little feature to know where exactly a Local Legend or PR was achieved. It was really cumbersome to figure this out before. Possible Improvements• Toggle for Awards: While t

When I use Flyby, I only see one or two other riders, even though I’ve selected many more. Moving the timeline forward or backward doesn’t help either. This happens both on my home computer (Mac + Safari) and at work (PC + Chrome). Everything was working fine until Friday evening. 

HI community,I have been using Strava for the past 14 months with full subscription and find it great for aggregating all my activities.Lately I have noticed that the Strava Clock is not my local clock, the Strava clock is apparently Strava server time. Example in question, on the 2nd of February I did 3 activities starting local times 8.59 AM, 9.52 AM and 10.26 AM. These were exported to Strava with time stamps 1st of February 11.59 PM,  2nd of February at 12.52 AM and 1.26 AM.According to Strava time I did 1 activity on the 1st and 2 activities on the 2nd of February when I in local time did 3 activities before noon on the 2nd of February. All local times are exported -9 hrs.It might have been like this for a long time, but I only discovered it today.How do I "reset" the Strava clock to my local time?/Ulf 

I was searching for an activity with "Mt. Lafayette” in the comments and typed "Lafay” and nothing came up but when I completed the word “Lafayette” it did. It’d be nice if partial string matching for comments was supported in search

Hi. My name is Dodd. I’m new to the forum but have been using Strava for about six years. I’ve got a bug on my app that will let me view only about 15 or 20 of my most recently saved routes. I can see that the other routes are there and the app will let me scroll to them for a second but then kicks me back to the latest 15 or so. I’ve contacted support but they were not able to help and closed my ticket. Has anyone else experienced this?  Thanks.  ps  I can see them all on my laptop, not on app, iPhone. 

Just wondered if anyone else has this problem. At the moment I can only access the most recent 16 (web) or 20 (app) of my routes; it is not letting me scroll or page through to see any more.My other routes still exist as many of them I have shared to my partner via Messages and I can still access them from there.
