What is Strava's 'Training Impulse'?

What exactly is Strava's 'Training Impulse'? It is ONLY shown when you hover over a particular ride in the 'Fitness and Freshness' curve, but the term is not defined in the Strava glossary (as far as I can find) and -of course- its not 'Training Load ' (known as TSS everywhere else)) or 'Intensity' (= IF) or 'Relative Effort' (TRIMP). Can't find anything on these boards or via Gogle. Anyone? Thx.

API how to refresh API access token not user access token

Hello I would like to ask how to refresh the API access token which I can see on the settings/api strava web page In the documentation only shows how to refresh USER access tokens , thank you

Activity Title Question

Wanted to see if I get help with an activity title issue. I'm trying to see if it's possible to not have my ride location automatically show up in the title of my ride. I will get something like "San Antonio, Texas morning ride", when all I used to get was just "morning ride." (I know this is something Strava implemented a while back and it drives me crazy.) I can completely replace the activity title, removing the location data, and it add it back in later on. Is there a way to turn this feature off? I have friends who never get the ride location in the their auto titles. I've looked at the preferences and haven't found a way so far. Thanks for any help.

Time/position - Velocity - for weightlifting

Hi - We have been tracking lifting in the weights room for more than 20 years. Velocity, force, power, distance - more than reps and sets. Is Strava looking to increase its weightlifting feature? We would love our shared customers to be able to upload their GymAware and FLEX data. Velocity based training is increasingly popular with athletes that have a focus outside of the weights room as it accounts for auto-regulation. Would anyone like to start a conversation?

ActivityZone documentation inconsistent with responses from API

The API docs as well as the swagger spec define that the type of an ActivityZone can be one of ['heartrate', 'power']. However, the API also returns at least one other type, i.e. 'pace'. When using the swagger spec to validate or deserialize responses, this may lead to validation errors. Is it possible to update the documentation and swagger spec with all supported types? Thanks!

Get segment riders by day?

Hi everyone, I am thinking of a script that gets the local trail conditions from my city’s trail stewards association. If the trail is closed, I want to get via the Strava API a list of users that rode the segment(s) that day to see who is damaging the trails by riding them when closed. I read the API documentation extensively and couldn’t find an endpoint that satisfied this — anyone have any ideas or is it simply not possible? Cheers, Mel

Pausing doesn't seem to work in Fitbit-synced biking

I bike a specific route a lot. I encounter a stop light twice. I am not sure pausing is working right. Whether I am stopped at the light has an outsized effect on my ride time. I am tracking using a Fitbit Charge 5, and it syncs to Strava. Does Strava detect pauses in the synced Fitbit data? If so, how can I see where it is seeing pauses? I would like to validate my theory. If this is primarily a Fitbit deal, I can check there. I am not clear which part bears responsibility for this. It seems that the data available to Stava is sufficient for it to eliminate pauses, but not sure that it does.

license issue

Hello, I'm an app developer who is currently trying to develop an application through the Strava API. The purpose of this application is to manage students' grades and physical strength at the academy. That's where your API is going to be used. However, since this application is a student management application for private institutes, the profit model will be conducted not by advertising revenue from the app itself, but by receiving tuition fees from students enrolled in private institutes, and the app itself will not generate direct profits. In this situation, what should I do with the app to comply with the relevant regulations? Please explain the details if any phrases should be stated or the obligation to report.

Request for club activities returns empty array

Good day, for the last few years we have used the Strava API without issues using the following workflow once a day: A refresh token is requested That refresh token is used to request the activities in a club The response is further processed This morning, the activities were no longer showing up correctly. The only thing that was returned was an empty array (verbatim: "[]"). We have not changed anything about the requests or the way these requests were made. The account we use to make these requests is also an admin in the club in question, yet this changes nothing. What can be done to get things up and running again?

Club endpoint not returning any activities for most users starting sometime March 1.

We are seeing an empty payload being returned from the clubs endpoint for most users since this AM: https://www.strava.com/api/v3/clubs/nnnn/activities&per_page=100 No errors, just a 200 and an empty array. No changes on our end, no changes to the API that I can see? I don't see anything in the API status: https://status.strava.com/

Authentication with athletes has led to other problems...

SO, I was able to get my athletes to authenticate my application from which I could grab their activities through my app, BUT now the issue is that I can't seem to hit the club endpoint (where these athletes are also in) and grab their activities from the club page. Are these two things somehow related to each other? Would my acquiring access to their activities hinder my ability to grab the club activities in which their runs are? This has been a frustrating occurrence for me involving lots of debugging and a whole lot of questions surrounding access and authentication that doesn't really get covered in their documentation. Any help would be appreciated. Other thing I noticed is the service.getAccessToken() call doesn't seem to be getting a refreshed access token. It's using some old one.

Run Segment Reports based on year.

Back in the day there was a way you could run a report on a specific segment. Then you could pull data say for last year. It would tell you how mine riders and how many attempts. Now I am only seeign the options for Today, This Week, and This month. Am I missing a change?

Would Like to See How Many Riders Have Done a Segment in a Specified Timeframe

Hello, I would like to be able to make an API call that returned an object showing start/end times, and duration, for all riders in that time period. It would not need to include any PII I would just like to analyze trail use. I know that I can manually go to Strava and look at a segment, but I would like to be able to see this data programmatically.

Zapier Integration limited athlete information

I'm implementing an integration between Strava and an external system based on Zapier. For each run someone does in a particular club on Strava I would like to update the profile on the other platform. The activity trigger does work fine on clubs but the information you get on an athlete is minimal. I only get resource_state, firstname and lastname (first character). Which makes it very unreliable to do profile lookups in the other platform that's linked. Is Strava considering adding a unique athlete ID for example here because this would solve my problem?

Requesting dataset from a published paper

Hi, I am a PhD student at the ECE department at Portland State University. I have been working on a Pace-Prediction problem for distance running. Stravalib package update with possible breaking changes

Hi, I’m reaching out as a maintainer of the stravalib python package. We recently made some changes under the hood that will allow us to easily maintain the package and keep up with changes to the Strava API. We tried to keep the usage of stravalib as backward-compatible as possible with previous releases, but it is impossible to test for all potential use cases. Therefore, we created a pre-release that can be installed with `pip install —pre stravalib==1.3.0rc0`. The (known) breaking changes are documented here. Please test your package or project with this pre-release to ensure the upcoming version will not break it. If you encounter any issues or have questions, please continue the conversation at our Github repo!

Why can't I see distance ran on Galaxy watch 5 pro app?

I've just started trying out Strava on my galaxy watch 5 pro, and this seems like such a no-brainer but I can't find it anywhere. How do I see my distance on the app while I'm running? On my watch I can see Heart Rate, Time, and Pace/Mile, but that's it? I want to look at my watch while running and see how far I've gone, without having to wait until I've finished the run and it's synced to my phone. All of the distance info is there on my phone post-run, but how do I see it during the run? In the Samsung Health watch app it's so simple: I see Duration, Distance, Pace and Heart Rate. I can even get an audio or vibration cue at each mile. Why would anyone use Strava for running if you can't see the distance while running? Thanks in advance - hopefully I'm missing a simple setting.

API activity request with refresh capability for access token

I am unable to retrieve my activities via my React application, despite using this how-to site for reference and largely copying the code over: https://javascript.plainenglish.io/strava-api-react-app-326e63527e2c. Is this not a valid request link: https://www.strava.com/api/v3/athlete/activities?access_token=<access_token_here> ? Of course, that <access_token_here> part is where my current access token would be, which gets refreshed with the way I've set up my React App.js file. For extra context, I am receiving a 401 request error upon the request being made in React: The underlying error appears to be the following: Not sure how to interpret this result. I'd appreciate any help/insight into this for those of you who are aware of a fix/solution and/or have gone through this problem already.

Photos location based on timestamp meta not (often inaccurate) location.

Many times my photos location is way off from place it was taken. This is because the GPS location can be very inaccurate if I take a picture with my phone quickly after turning it on. It would be nice to be able to put photos on a map at a location based on when they were taken, this can be much more accurate than GPS data. I know that there are some users that use some scripts that takes GPX and photos and then updates geolocation meta data looking for the nearest point in GPX to time when photo was taken. Could Strava perhaps also allow this option when uploading media? Place photos on GPX "when" it was taken, ignoring location data.

Authentication from other Strava users

Perhaps this is answered somewhere already, but so long as the athlete's posts are public, am I able to grab their activities with the API (as long as I've authenticated)? Or do I need them to do something for me so they're authenticated, too? I would like to create an application that can grab the weekly activities from the athletes I coach and display them on a webpage.

strava://settings/privacy/"Aggregated Data Usage" ?

I'm trying to make a link that directs to the "Aggregated Data Usage" page in the app but can't figure out what is supposed to go in the link to get there. I've been able to do "strava://settings/privacy/maps" and it brings you to the "Map Visibility" page so I assume there's something to bring you to the "Aggregated Data Usage" page. Anyone happen to know? Thanks.
