Strava Features Chat

Is there a way to keep the ride ‘live’ on Strava, but to exclude it from the Fitness/Freshness algorithm calculations?Last September, on holiday, I climbed a number of mountains on my bike, including Tourmalet.  Part way up that climb, my power meter began to malfunction and, broadly speaking, continuously added about 600-watts to my actual power at any given time.  Whilst that resulted in a rather impressive set of stats at the end of the ride (!), it was obviously incorrect.  It has also meant that every Fitness/Freshness graph I produce on Strava ever since has a huge and misleading ‘peak’ if I let the system calculate it using power.If it had been pretty much any other ride, I would probably have simply deleted that ride from Strava to avoid the distortion, but, for obvious reasons, I wanted to keep that particular’s day’s climbs as part of my ‘official record’.

When editing an activity from the listing (https://www.strava.com/athlete/training), ticking the checkbox “Commute” does not work.Furthermore, this works from the android app, but taking the same activity from the web and saving it again removes the tag

Some of us train for mountain races on treadmills and stair steppers. It turns out there is no way to enter elevation gain as a part of a manual activity, at least not in my Android Strava app. Can this please be fixed? 

This is my fitness in the last 3 months according to Strava as I am training for an upcoming 100 miler. In reality this couldn't be any further from truth. My aerobic fitness went up significantly. I handle heat much better than 3 months ago, and I recover quickly from long training runs.What Strava calls fitness is highly misleading. This should be called something like acute training load as this gives a lot of emphasis on time spent in high intensity. But that isn't fitness as people who end up training too hard (at too high intensity) all the time tend to plateau. This doesn't encourage to train smart and only works to reflect noob gains for people who have just started exercising. Also consider the fact that the biggest gains in "fitness" on this graph are from finishing races. But again that is false. Running a long distance race in fact suppresses fitness

Hi All,Am I the only one who cannot save the map setting about heatmaps?It stopped working some time ago.When I open the maps, I can turn on the heatmaps layer; it works as usual, but only until I temporarily switch to another application or just turn off and on the screen.I haven't found any workaround yet, unfortunately.

I just got a new phone, and after installing the Strava app, I noticed that any time I try to view an activity (either mine or someone I follow) the app crashes. It also crashed if I try to tap on the Maps or Record features. I can navigate the rest of the app features like Groups, If I go to the “You” feature I can also navigate within the Progress option plus I can scroll down my list of activities but just can’t open any.It has been uploading activities from Zwift and my Wahoo Element IRL rides without issue.I had a Pixel 6a before and now a Pixel 8 Pro. Same Android OS version/build on both phones and settings for the Strava app are all the same too.I have done the usual troubleshooting like clear app storage/cache and also uninstalled/reinstalled the app too.Not sure if it’s a specific feature of the Pixel 8 Pro causing the issues that my 6a did not have but it’s very frustrating.Thanks for any suggestions offered!

Why there is still not padel activity but pickleball yes??There is like 30 milions players all around world and still not activity…. 

Hi!I have been uploading my rowing to Strava (Android) for a while now, and recently I noticed that when using the ‘Quick Edit’ feature to rename/make changes to these activities, the pace units for the activity - “/500m” for rowing - is changed to be “/km”. However, this is unhelpful as rowing consistently uses the “/500m” to measure splits. This issue isn’t present when using the standard Edit Activity button. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see if this issue is consistent across other devices/Strava versions, and I don’t know if it has existed since the introduction of the Quick Edit feature or not. Device Data:Strava V339.16 (12391138)Android Version BP22.250124.010 (Baklava)Pixel 6  

Both in iOS app and on web, when I complete an activity and go to the Map view and enable the personal heat map, the most recent activity doesn’t show up until I TOGGLE the “show private activities” setting for the Personal Heatmap layer. If it was off I have to turn it on, if it was on I have to turn it off. This is notwithstanding that the activities I am recording are public and this setting shouldn’t affect it, and that disabling “Show private activities” should never cause activities to appear on the heatmap. Just toggling the heatmap on and off doesn’t show it. Switching the map on and off doesn’t show it. Only toggling the “show private activities” option will immediately show the most recent activity on the personal heat map. If I toggle it back to the old setting it disappears. The personal heatmap is the main thing that’s kept me subscribed to Strava so it’s frustrating to still find it glitchy when there are free alternatives available.As an additional

50km ride with only 11k logged I stopped to take a photo from the lock screen and I forgot that THIS always happens so I lost most of my 50km ride. I’m pissed because I really pushed on to try to test my form in the last 15km and they were just not recorded,I’ve lost LOADS of training rides like this. Can you not fix it?I’m a software developer. Do you need a little help? 

New activity type tags like Recovery, and With Pet etc are not showing in my strava app and also on desktop website version. How to get that tag options? I tried reinstalling app also and it has latest version too.

Every time a Garmin activity is synced with Strava I get a notification saying "Kudos" "Wow" "Another activity down" and stuff like that. I have turned off the push notifications so I don't get them on my phones notification area, but that doesn't stop the notification icon in the app and website telling me I have new notifications.This means that if I ever get any real notification then I just won't see it because of all the spam, making the notification icon on the website and app completely useless.I have looked through all the settings but can't find anywhere to customise what notifications are enabled.

Hello,I am missing the transparent overlay that includes an outline of your running route. When I go to share my run it gives me 5 transparent overlay options, but not that particular one. My app is up to date and I am a subscriber.

I did two rides two days apart.  The second ride was longer time, had a significantly greater avg and NP power, higher IF, and higher TSS, yet the Relative Effort was much lower than the first.  How does this work or make sense?

Is there any way to limit the live segments notifications to just the starred segments and not the popular ones? As I ride it's just a constant stream of live segment notices that I don't have any interest in, yet to clear the screen means taking a hand off of the handlebars which isn't always practical.

Hi, I purchased the Strava family plan, but two of my family members can't join. It says they live in another country, which isn't true. My partner spent the last month training in Spain. I was there with him too, and I have activities in that region, but we live in Poland, and here in Poland I purchased a plan. My brother mostly rides in the Czech Republic for professional reasons, but he's also Polish with an account in Poland. What can I do?

I want to be able to share a several flyovers to non Strava users.  In the android app Flyover is being offered as a choice when I hit the share activity button. So map visibly is being set correctly, otherwise the option will not show.When a recipient tries to open my shared link they get the message - “This activity could not be found. It was either deleted or is private.” If I open it the link when logged in to my account it works. I am puzzled by the inconsistent instructions in this forum, in the Strava help and elsewhere describing what is needed to get this to work.    Yesterday I was seeing my shared Flyovers open for others without Strava accounts even with Individual activity visibility = Followers. Instructions say this should not work but it did.I have set Activity PermissionsIndividual activity visibility = Everyone. map visibility = EveryoneGeneral PermissionProfile page = Followers

Pace per 500m exampleLap split has auto changed to heart rate. Workout analysis changes from pace per 500m for laps to heart rate some time post event being uploaded. The pace measurement time per 500m is really useful and is not replicated when converted to heart rate. It is really frustrating and I have no control over the change. it would be great to either be able to switch or at least set as a preference.  ThanksMarcus Below photo are of the same event, before and after.

The current algorithm that determines Top Sport for Year in Sport is inaccurate. I walked 200 miles this year, and ran 1,800 miles--yet my "Top Sport" is walking. The reason is that my runs are split up between "Trail Run" and "Run" both of whose individual count of activities are less than the number of total walks I did since I typically go for a walk in the evening. You could fix this by either determining "Top Sport" by the number of miles NOT by number of activities, or if you are intent on counting activities, then count "All Run" instead of the subcategories. Either way, the algorithm is horrible and as a paying subscriber who ran 1800+ miles, one 100-miler, 2 50-milers, and 2 50Ks this year, it's reveals a lack of seriousness on your part to reveal to me that my top sport is "Walking" in the year in review feature. 

I just updated my mobile Strava app to see the Year in Sport and it made my map feature useless. Is anyone else having this problem? In addition to having the map covered by information boxes and the headmap not being visible, the map is covered with giant white blobs. The map feature was one of my favorite parts of the app and now its useless. 

 There’s an icon for Alpine skiing, but it doesn’t work.  Uphill distance in the chairlift is included (!!) so speed is completely skewed.  Also, non-sensical segments, perhaps from summer hiking or mountain biking (?) are included in stats.  The alpine skiing icon should be removed from the list of sports that Strava “supports” until this is fixed!  The stats make absolutely no sense for downhill skiing and they are extremely misleading until you use another app to see your real stats and then figure out what the problem is with Strava.

Fitness Score doesn’t seem to take into account Strava App activities (ones I only log from the Strava App on my phone) vs those I log on my Garmin and import into Strava. Eg Nov 7 activity from Strava App is not part of Fitness Score in the screenshots.  Also, the Fitness score by always says today is “yesterday”
