Heatmaps

I'm working across a partnership project at the moment focussed on Nature Recovery with farmers, land owners, Natural England, and the Wildlife Trust. We're interested in the potential for creating a mountain bike trail, as well as understanding areas that need to be protected for nature from recreational disturbance. As a long time strava user it occurred to me that heat maps would be a really useful starting point for us to understand current access and demand. Is it possible for us to have access to anonymised heat maps for the area that we could overlay across our other mapping?

Ads vs. Subscriptions

Hi Strava Team,Why not offer users a choice between a free version (with ads) vs. a paid subscription (no ads) like Spotify/YouTube?I want to share this in order to start a conversation and see what the community and Strava think. This is coming from a place of trying to find common interests among the users and Strava. I read the clarification this weekend and understand that the price increase is necessary due to the cost of running the service with more activities, data uploads, and the increase in users.This is important because:Users want to save money during an economic downturn, but do not want to lose Strava and previously free services (like Year-in-Review & Leadership Board) that used to be available to them.Strava needs to generate money as a business to process all of the data being uploaded in order to stay free. Strava cannot be "free" forever without more money. Free service (with ads) is basically like the free version of Spotify/Y

Viewing Denied Follow Requests

Is there a way to see follow requests .. in particular of athletes who have requested to follow you, but you have denied and blocked them.…or do I have to contact the support team to get this. Thanks

[KNOWN ISSUE] Unmuting muted activities on the web doesn't work.

Bug: Unmuting muted activities on the web doesn't work. After saving, the activity remains muted. Workaround: Unmute the activity in the app.

Get data from activity on webhook event

Hi, I'm using webhooks to see when users create new activities. This is to then be able to retrieve each activity's stream in real time.The problem, however, is that if the user is not logged in to my app when I get my webhook, I cannot run the request required to retrieve more information about the user's activity, as I do not save the user's accesToken and refreshToken in my database, unless it is saved via local storage.What I can do is save the id of the activities that have been created sometimes the user has not been active on my app in my mysql database, and then when the user logs in again, I get all the streams then.The problem with that is above all that it won't be realtime. But the other problem is that the rate limits do not allow me to send requests to get these streams from all assets if there are x number.Of course, I can always split it up and wait 15 minutes between each request if I take 10 or 20 at a time, but then it's not certain that the user is still there.

Cancellation for incorrect payment

Good afternoon, I cancelled my auto subscription for the student plan a few months ago. The regulations say that we have to request a refund within 7 days (I have put 2 tickets in the last week with no replies as it went through on the 19th and is now the 25th) , I need a refund for the amount on my card account, could you please refund it? I'm not sure why it went through as I had already cancelled, but not just that it charged me through at full price rather than student discount which is even weirder. Thank you  Add tags

Elevation overlaps all other data graphs (speed, heartrate, power etc)

On Strava App, the elevation does overlap speed, heartrate etc, while elevation was alwys in the background of all other graphs.I have not found any setting both in the Strava App or -webversion.Anyone ?

Activity (hike) is not matching with a route

I have recorded an activity (a hike) but it's not showing the matching segments or route that is already listed in Strava.This was a hike around Unicoi Lake, which is part of the Unicoi Park in Helen, Georgia. This trail/loop is already showing in the Strava app as a route. But for some reason, in my activity it isn't showing the route or any of the segments. Also, when you look at the route history (of those that have completed this route) it doesn't show me as completing it. For example, I completed this route on June 19, 2024, but when you look at the activity for the route it shows the most recent activity on June 13, 2024.This is the route showing in app This is my activityDo I need to do something to get the route & segments to register or am I missing something?

What happened to the calorie counting algorithm since 2023?

In 2022 and 2023, my bike rides pretty much were consistent in showing calories that correlated with my measured calorie workouts at home. Now, in 2024, all rides, which are monitored in my phone app, show 25% lower calculated calories!

invalid token exchange authorization codes?

So 99% of the time my token exchange process works just fine, but occasionally Strava responds with a "Bad Request" message.I've confirmed that each authorization request is accepted, and I receive a query string formatted as expected, looking like:"code":"012345ab6c7d89e48d7e92a0e381024deb1f0a7b","scope":"activity:read_all,activity:write,profile:read_all,read,read_all"but occasionally the POST call to https://www.strava.com/oauth/token receives this response:{ "message":"Bad Request", "errors": [{ "resource":"AuthorizationCode", "field":"code", "code":"invalid" }]}This issue is so intermittent that I can't reproduce it, but I'm sure I only try to use the short-lived code once...Any ideas what might be going wrong?

(Known Issue) Global Heat Map disappears when Offline

Hi, I have a free version of Stava that I use with a Samsung S8. In the past few weeks I noticed that the Global Heat map disappears when if I'm off line. This is a problem when I ride my MTB on new trails, in the middle of nowhere. Before I was be able to see the Global heatmap both on line and off line.  HELP!!!

Calories discrepancy

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I continue to be baffled by virtually identical workouts (some, such as those represented by the two screen caps here) giving wildly divergent calorie readings. Any clues? did Strava radically adjust their algorithm between September of 2021 and August 2023, because I've got 2 1/2 times the calories for an identical rollerski run. What gives?!?

Problem in route creation

Creating a route (run and bike) among one of the most popular running routes in Amsterdam causes this problem.Instead of going straight under the bridge, Strava creates a 5k detour. By creating the route manually, forcing the route still leads to this error. Google maps coordinates: 52.33305552269576, 4.8981445885648185Would be great if this can be fixed.

Community Photos appearing in my personal heatmap

I've noticed community photos appearing by default in my personal heatmap, with no way of turning them off. Include them in the Global heatmap but I don't need to see them in my personal heatmap. Thanks.

How do I increase athlete limit?

Heat Map Inconsistent

My own heat map doesn‘t include certain bicycle rides, some of which are my longest in distance and elevation. I can see some on the heat map when I select all activities, but most I can't. I've changed the privacy settings, time/date, ride details, even got premium and still can't see certain rides. I went to show a friend all the areas I've bike and noticed they were not present. One route I went on for 3 days in a row and the second one is randomly not visible on my heat map. I've noticed previous discussions about this, but haven't heard of an update in a few months.

Downloaded routes not displaying

Hi, I have downloaded routes then when I open the app offline it just says "you don't have any routes downloaded for offline use. your saved routes will be visible once you're back online". I have tried uninstalling the app, powering off my phone then reinstalling the app but the issue still persists. Any suggestions please?

Trying to Understand Strava Pace Plotting

Hey there, I've been comparing Strava's analysis of single gpx files to other platforms and something that appears to be quite striking is how the pace plots for an activity differ from those made on the same activity using alternative analysis tools out there. I am trying to understand roughly what might be the largest contributors to this difference...The main two things I would like to clarify for myself:Is the pace plot downsampled from the available gpx data?Does anyone know what smoothing algorithm is being employed?  Thanks in advance! I've attached a screenshot of the UI element I am referencing ( taken from the mobile app)  to hopefully shed some light on which of the many different pace plots I'm referring to here...

One user doesnt get refresh token, others work

I have a webapp, user authorize and the webapp fetch segment efforts. But one of the user can authorize, all good,  my web can retrieve user information and saves this, but then the user doesnt get refreshtoken when webapp ask for it, response is Bad request. all the other user works well. We have tried to: revoke app, delete user and reauthorize several times. Also Adjusted privacy, so all public, but no luck with this. This user had privacy set to private, and request to follow when first authorizing, I dont know if its matter. So, I will be glad if someone has a possible solution for this.
